hobnx
Hi all, I've got a beautiful ES-355 from 1961 (my father's, long ago), and everything about it is in wonderful condition except that it is missing a single saddle (I believe they're bone; they are, in any case, white, with gold screws). I suppose I have cascading questions: 1. Is there anywhere/anyone from whom I could get a replacement that would resemble the originals? and, if the answer to that is no, then 2. Where would I be able to get a set of saddles that would fit the guitar? (Am I right in thinking that the vintage ABR-1 bridge not exactly the same as the modern one?) Thank you so much for your help. hn
craigh
Thw saddles are plastic. The Casino's were also plastic. Craig
hobnx
Well, plastic then--it was hard to tell and I'm obviously not well read in these things; I guess it's good to know. Anyway, would any ABR-1 saddles that fit Gibsons fit this one, or has the bridge design changed over time?
craigh
The bridges look to me to be the same. I think it would not look good with a combination of plastic & metal. I would get a new bridge. Craig
PartsPvt
I have a 1966 355. It came with he plastic saddles which I replaced with metal saddles. I replaced that with an improved bridge you can see in my avatar.. The plastic and metal are interchangeable but metal sustains and has tonal improvement.
