Black on Blonde

I put some DR Black Beauties strings on my Dot. They were included in a bundle with the DR Pure Blues strings that I like.

Verdict? I don't like them.

1. The coating feels different. I could probably get used to that, but why should I?

2. I noticed a subtle difference in sound, but I cannot quite explain it. Again, it is just different.

3. The strings sort of disappear against the fret board. This bothers me more than I thought. I have given it a few weeks, and I still don't like them.

4. The B string is bad. I did a thorough set up when I changed strings -- truss rod, string height and intonation -- but the second string is sort of warbly.

So, I will be changing these.

i recently purchased a set for my vm squier. I have not put them on yet. but played an exact model with the bass version and was blown away. I admitt the black strings would be a pain to work with on a rosewood fretboard. but, the vm jazz squier has a maple like neck with black block inlays and black binding around the neck. looks very good.
