Californiaman
Hey Surfpup, have you heard this? You have to wait for it (3:53), but it's good. The slide guitarist makes this song. He told me that he used two distortion units while playing. Anyway, check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ0_GgE3CFI
surfpup
I'll have to check it out this evening, Cali. No streaming vid here at work. I can't even tell what you've posted below "check it out"
surfpup
Cool, CaliMan. Thanks for sharing that. A lot more rippin' slide than on the album version for sure. Gram sang that well too. He had one of those shaky voices, that was a little sketchy sometimes - not the best pitch control ya know.
Californiaman
That's one of my favorite discoveries in the last year. Purely accidental too. When I wrote Neil Flanz, he told me it was two Electro Harmonix distortion units running at once that he plugged his lap steel guitar into. That sound is some of the most haunting slide I've ever heard.

Sneaky Pete used to used fuzz on his pedal steel too with Gram back in the Flying Burrito Brothers days.
