TommyK
I have a 70's era, Pioneer brand, ear muff head phones with a volume control pot on each muff. The pots are crackly, scratchy, and for most of their rotation just plain won't work. Question 1. Should I consider trying to clean them? In my limited experience, crackliness can usually be abated by rotating the pot lock to lock through a dozen or more rotations, thereby kicking loose whatever palmetto bug dung may have become lodged between the wiper and coils. These won't clean up using this method. Failing this, I plan to re-pot my muffs. Question 2. Does Radio Shack have decent enough replacement pots? Is there a better, not too expensive, alternative? LarryUK
Try a shot of contact cleaner in them first.
