fretplay
Some 60s ES 330s I have looked at do not have a label inside the F hole. Does this give an indication to age? Can any member help me with this please.
CR9
Not necessarily. It may have gotten left off at the factory, an owner may have removed it or due to temperatures and humidity it may have just come off. I have a mid 60's Gibson acoustic that I got a couple of years ago and it had the label just floating around loose inside the guitar when I got it. I was told that it was attached when it was shipped. The model and serial number had been written down inside by where the neck joins the body sometime during assembly. Parts like pots with date codes are a good clue to age. I have not seen any indication that certain years or months the labels were left off, but with a production assembly it could happen. Hopefully there is still a serial number on the headstock or marked somewhere inside.
