dougg330
I just got the new MF catalog, and the reissue ES-330 looks great. The long neck would be a nice companion to my '66 330. Has anyone bought one? Played one? Seen one? Dying to to get som escoop. Thanks - Dougg330=p~
Notes_Norton
I've got a 1970 ES-330 "long neck" and I absolutely love it. It's lightweight, sounds OK as an acoustic so I can practice without plugging it in, has a great neck, and when it is plugged in, those P90s sound wonderful. Since my ES has become a collector's item, I didn't want to take it on the gig with me. I double on sax, flute, wind synth, guitar, voice, percussion controller and sometimes keyboards. Switching instruments in a hurry is a ding or two waiting to happen. So I bought an Epiphone Casino and "Gibsonized" it with a black pickguard and Witch Hat knobs. Unplugged the Gibson sounds a little better, the Gibson has better upper fret access, but plugged in, they sound almost identical (the Epi is actually a little hotter, but the pups are adjusted higher). If I were to be limited to one guitar, I'd take the 330 long neck. I think a new, blue 330 would look great next to these two beauties!!! (Dear Santa:) Now I have to clean the drool off my keyboard Insights and incites by Notes
dougg330
Bob, do you find much difference in feel between the long neck 330 and the Casino? My Casino seems to have slightly better 12th fret and beyond access than my '66 es-330 does, but essentially feels the same in terms of action, string tension, etc. Thanks - Dougg330

The nut on the Casino is just a hair wider, and I suppose that is due to the difference between US and Metric measurements. Notes
dougg330
My Casino (new) has a slightly chunkier neck than my 330 ('66) also. I was hoping that new reissue 330 would also have a heftier neck. Maybe if they lower credit card rates in response to the current crisis I can get one. Ken Rayba
I posted this question on the pick up discussion board, my question is this: For P-90 picks ups, is there a standard height from the bottom of the string to the polepieces? I know for humbuckers I have read the rhythm pick up should be 3/16" and the treble pick up 1/16". Should this be the same standard for the P-90's even though they are different than humbuckers?
