bogman57 Posted August 28, 2011 Share Posted August 28, 2011 I have a question about the faded LP special. I have one that needs cover plates for the switch and knobs. I would like to get a genuine Gibson product but they are not in stock locally. I can order online but many vendors will not accept returns if the item is opened and opening the package is the best way to check for proper fitting. Does anyone know offhand if regular Les Paul cover plates will fit on the faded LP Special? It is the model with the two humbuckers if that makes a difference. It's my first Gibson and I am happy with it. That guitar packs a heckuva punch in a small package, especially for blues. TIA for all your help. retrosurfer1959 Posted August 29, 2011 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Should be standard size it's a stock route - it's basically just a Studio with out a gloss finish if it's the model I'm thinking of (mine is TV yellow) take your guitar to a local guitar store and compare the plates they should let you look at them at least? I did a quick and dirty arts and crafts project (basically traced the outline of the cavity, cut it out, and compared it to a Lp studio) and it looks like it should fit.
