On the quest for yet another guitar...

Have the option of an Elitist at a decent price which makes it competitive with the 50th anniversary 1961. Any thoughts on the "better" option? Probably will get a few "depends..." but always open to advice...

Hi there, I've had 2 elitists, an early one which was fantastic and a 2009 model that was so so, a nice guitar but was just lacking something somewhere... The quality was very very good on both instruments. I currently own a Lennon '65 AIUSA casino and it's a beautiful guitar, fantastic sound, feel everything really, only slight downside is it's skinny neck, I have big hands so it's my issue really not the guitars.

And 2 days ago I got a 50th anniversary in Royal Tan. And I absolutely LOVE it!!!! I've been really blown away by the quality of this thing! It's very lively unplugged, great acoustic tone and sustain. It's amazingly light but feels very solid at the same time! Plugged in the acoustic tone translates into great electric sounds, each pickup is very distinctive, and the tone knobs really work well.

The neck is alot chunkier than my Lennon and is very playable. I was very much in two minds about getting this guitar, as to whether it would be different enough from my Lennon to warrant buying another casino but they're pretty different to me.

I'd say play both and decide what's best for you but over here in the UK you could get 2 '61 re-issues for the price of one elitist, I know what I'd do!

Also the '61 is a ltd edition, and if they're all as good as mine they'll go pretty quickly!
