29Tudor
Actually it's no contest, the GFS blows the Epi away! I bought an Epi LP Jr bcause it looks a lot my first electric. The neck plays great but the P90 is weak. I compared with a GFS P90 I slapped in a cheap Strat knock off, the GFS has more output and better tone. Time for a pup swap. Groovedoggie1
Had an Epi LP Jr (Limited Edition Custom Shop). Same thing: Great neck, but so-so pickup. Mine had the P100, so maybe it's not a fair comparison. Anyway, I dropped a GFS in there and it screamed!
james_edward
Needless to say you've made this comparison after properly setting the heights of the pickups on both guitars, yes?
29Tudor
The pickup on the Jr is a dog ear, screwed directly on to the body, no adjustment. I just guessed with the other guitar. The difference is not subtle, even my tin ears can hear it. I have a new GFS on the way, the Epi pup will live on in a cigar box git I'm planning on building this Winter.
