Thomas02
Hello, I recently changed the strings on my lefty ES 335 and made the mistake of taking all the strings off at once - and the bridge promptly fell off (naturally, I hear you say!). Subsequent ill-advised fiddling with the bridge thumb nuts has resulted in an annoying fret-buzz on the low E and A strings (naturally, I again hear you say!). I have not adjusted the string length. Having never done this before, how do I retune the guitar? Thank you.
badbluesplayer
You'll need to readjust the thumb screws some to get the action higher. First, make a guess how much you need to raise the strings at the 12th fret. You'll want to adjust the thumb screws up about twice the amount you want to raise the action. Then loosen the strings and adjust the thumbscrews so the bridge is raised up about the right amount. Then retighten the strings to tune the guitar and check the action. Keep adjusting the action if necessary by loosening the strings and adjusting the thumbscrews and then retuning the guitar and rechecking the action. The intonation should remain fine as long as the saddles have not moved.
vincentw
Shouldn't be a major issue. String height should gradually ascend from the high E string to the low E string.
kaicho8888
If you want to remove all the strings at the same time to clean your fretboard, use masking tape on the bridge and thumb screws and tail piece.
