They're part of a tv series ending in the next 3 weeks called Cover Me Canada which is a competition that started with 8 independent artists from across Canada in which they have to perform covers of hit songs by Canadian artists. The winner gets a recording contract for their first original single to be released in Canada by Universal Music, airplay on CBC Radio 2 and $100,000. This week they were joined on stage by Brian Vollmer of the Canadian 80's metal band Helix to perform Helix's Heavy Metal Love. It was really cool, because The Melanie Morgan Band is a country music act. However, the musicians in the band grew up on metal and hard rock and were now sharing the stage with a man they'd listened to back when they were kids. Past episodes of the show,they played countrified versions of classic Canadian rock songs... this week, they stepped out of their chosen genre, cranked their Marshalls and rocked it up with a pair of Les Pauls! PS: The number of LIKE's they get on the youtube post through facebook and twitter, the better their chances of getting through to the next week of competition.
