He studied under Jimmy Carter (not that Jimmy Carter) Sonny Rollins heard Broom when he was 14, he could already play every Rollins-Monk piece. He was too young to tour so he played gigs with Rollins, around NYC, including shows at Carnigie Hall. He worked with Charlie Byrd & Walter Bishop Jr. for years. He also plays with the Deep Blue Organ Trio.
