GibbyJoe Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I want to buy some kluson style tuners that I found on the web for my guitar. Is it hard to change these yourselves or should I have a repair shop do it? What is involved do I need any specials tools?
jchabalk Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 generally speaking it's not very hard at all unless your headstock has some sort of to-be-discovered structural problem, or you're extremely heavy handed. If the screw holes line up and the peg holes are of the same size it's adds 15 minutes to a restring job. If things don't line up you'll have to get out the drill. If you're not comfortable drilling into your instrument you should take it somewhere. I've replaced mine and had to drill screw pilots. First time i did it and i was a little nervous. If you take your time, measure twice, cut once etc you'll have it done in no time. I don't know if i'd do it myself on a high value guitar but i also live quite close by to a very good authorized repair shop. ymmv
