How to figue out the age of Gibson Pickups that have Epoxy???

Hello Everyone,

 

Please Help! I bought a 1982 LP Custom and the seller had put pickups in it from a 1974 LP 20th Anniversary he use to have. It's my understanding that Gibson used the Epoxy pickups in various guitar throughout the 70's.

Yes, that is true. I believe they were called super humbuckers. They were designed by Bill Lawrence when he worked for gibson. If they came out of a 1974 Les Paul, that's probably close to when they were made.
