Gettysburgexpress
Hi. I'm brand new to this forum, and I have tried the search function before posting but didn't find an answer to my question :( Maybe somebody in here can tell me how many Gibson Les Paul Custom 68 VOS' were made (approx.)! I'm about to buy one and can identify that it is from 2007 and number 19 made. The serial is 071908. Kind regards from Frank, Denmark
Tim Plains
190th made. Impossible to say as Gibson does not release production numbers but they don't make too many '68RIs each year. About/less then 500 would be my guess. Mine is #108 of 2010. It was ordered from a dealer and arrived in April 2010. 1961-1969 Firebird, Les Paul, and SG reissues (since 1997): YYRRRM Y is the production year RRR® indicates the guitar's place in production for that year. M is the model being reissued Reissue model codes: 1= SG Custom and Special 2= SG Standard 3= 1963 Firebird 1 4= 1964 Firebird III 5= 1965 Firebird V & VII 8= 1968 Les Paul Custom
Gettysburgexpress
Hi Tim. Thank you for your answer :) I've decided not to go for a LPC after all as I've read a lot of posts about bad support, bad assembly quality etc. It's too much money for me, too make a gamble. Have a noce day :) Kind regards Frank, Denmark
Tim Plains
Wrong move basing a decision on what you read on the internet. Go play the guitar and then decide. Custom Shop guitars are great and all the quality issues you read about pertain to Gibson USA. The only work these RIs need is to either file or replace the nut and maybe replace the pots/caps. '68s are fantastic.
Slogold
Yup...big mistake coz 68 RI is a fantastic guitar.
Fred D.
Yep, especially in triburst with a flamed maple top. Mine was purchased at Guitar Center and came with a thin neck instead of the usual rounded profile. Its serial is #1033 of 2007. Yup...big mistake coz 68 RI is a fantastic guitar.
