Ernie Ball M-Steel

Any one else tried the new Ernie Ball M-Steels yet? (apparently the next evolution of the cobalt strings.)

I put a set on my #1 LP Stnd this weekend, not sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. I like them!

They have the response, articulation, brilliance and clarity that cobalts have, but they look / feel a bit more like nickel. My finger tips did not turn black on the first few hours of using them. they don't have the dull appearance like the cobalts do.

I did notice that they feel a little stiff when you first put them on,, after a few hours, they seem to loose that stiffness and the resistance feels more normal, there a tad expensive tho 12 bucks a set from where I ordered these (MF). We'll have to see how long they last.

so far though, I gotta give them a [thumbup]

if you're ready for a string change, and have been a cobalt player, you may find these to your liking as well.

I just put cobalts on my 60s tribute and I'm kinda like MEH with em. I have a JB and a 59 and my JB is all bright now.

Great strings, they feel awesome, but they made my JB sound like crap..

I am gonna go back to my Dunlops. I switched to them when they first came out and I love em!

I may have to give them a whirl. I'd been using Elixir Nano's and/or Cleartones, but several months ago decided to start trying other strings. Put some EB Slinky's on my Dot and, like Shooter said my reaction was "Meh". Then I put some Cobalts on the guitar and it was WooHoo!! I've since put them on my LP and Casino, but I've been reading good things about the M-Steels, so may have to give 'em a go as well. Any other opinions?

Exactly. If you liked those, you'll really like these.

What I didn't like about the coblats (the feel and the black resin that winds up on your finger tips) the M-Steels seem to have over come.

They feel way better out of the shoot, and no black crap, (yet - got about 2 hours on em now)

They do just what the cobalts do tone/response wise and then some.

I did notice they seem a bit stiff when you first put em on, but that settles down after about an hour or so.

Check em out on your next change.

they aint cheap (I paid 12 bucks for one set).. so lets see how long they last..
