Pinch
Hello all! Okay, so my V120 is due for a string change and a bit of fretboard cleaning (looks like it could use some moisturizing as well). Being the least handy guy who ever walked God's green earth, I was thinking, could I leave a string or two on, to keep the bridge below the Tune-o-matic attached while I wipe her off, obviously with those strings slackened? Like, say, the high and low E string? I'm thinking that'd make it easier to put new strings on - replacing the two strings holding the bridge in place last? Or would that somehow be detrimental to the neck, tension-wise, or something? Thank you.
cjsinla
I leave two on all the time, not even slackened. I usually leave the two middle strings, the D and G. I take them off after putting on both E's. I've heard some guys say that they use masking tape to hold things in place and take off all the strings. I tried that with that blue painter's tape, worked fine but was a hassle. It's not a bad idea for holding the bridge in place and that part is the most critical.
