I'm not gonna buy one, but it is interesting. I'd be curious if the wood was solid.
ksdaddy
Plywood. Nothing great. I had a 70s Japanese copy of some sort 10 years ago or so, can't recall the name. Nothing spectacular. For the same money or less, I would seek out a 70s Japanese Epiphone FT-570. Not really a J200 but a cool 70s jumbo.
Jesse_Dylan
And it seems like if one wanted a plywood SJ-200, one could get by much cheaper with an Epiphone!
ksdaddy
You bet. EJ200s are out there and not much money. I only mention the FT570 because my father bought one new in '74 and I remember it being pretty sweet.
zombywoof
If it was built in the 1970s unless it has the Guild or Mossman moniker on the headstock it is probably best to avoid, especially at $800.

Those guitars though are pretty much re-badged Arias as Gibson only licensed out the Epiphone name and had nothing to do with how the guitars were designed and built.
