I just acquired an EB-3, that doesn't make me miss Gibson SG Std.'s at all. It plays well, sounds well also, and has a QC, that a fair number of SG Std.'s I've had, didn't have. A far less expensive instrument, that actually has it's frets dressed out of the box. I've had 4003 Rickenbacker Jetglo basses that weren't finished as well as my Epi EB-3 Ebony is. A very nice Ebony finish, without flaws. Way to go Epiphone.

Nice looking in Black (better than the red in my opinion)
later,
Peter

Thanks Peter, I like the Ebony also. Throughout out 48 years, the Cherry color was my gibson bass color. I'm really liking this Epi EB-3.

I sold my former EB-3 to a friend. I've been waiting to acquire another one. So now the time is right, so I have one on order now. it should be in on Tues., or Wed. Jan. 16th, or the 17th.

I have a set of D'Addario ETB92 Nylons coming in for the EB-3. Good sounds. [thumbup]

Here's the Ebony EB-3. It showed up a day ahead of time. It's strung with the D'Addario ETB92 Nylons.

I'm not that thrilled about the EB-3 being manufactured in China, but the QC on it is very good. I have no complaints what so ever with this EB-3. It's nice to unpack a bass, and have it ready to just tune up, and play.

I ordered the Epiphone case for the EB-3 from Sweetwater on Jan. 15th. It's held up by some really bad weather in Kernersville, NC. There must be some really bad winter weather going on there.

The Epiphone EB-3 case showed up today, delayed one day because of the severe winter conditions. What a great bass case. The EB-3 fits in it like it should. It's made sturdy. I don't know which case is better, between the Gibson USA SG Std. case, or the Epiphone EB-3 case. I do feel a lot better with the EB-3 in a good case for protection. Posted Image

The Epiphone EB-3 is a long scale bass (34"). The original Gibson EB-3 was a short scale (30.5"). Gibson did offer a long scaled EB-3 in the 60's & 70's and it's model name is EB-3L. Why Epiphone calls their long scale copy of the EB-3L an EB-3 is beyond me. I always call it an EB-3L.

Jack Bruced played an EB-3 - SHORT SCALE.
