I guess when you start your own company and make guitars you can put as many or as few pups on your guitars.

I'd never buy, rent, borrow or steal a 3-bucker LP or clone. But it's just my point of view, I'm not going to war over that, Sergeant :]

  2. Lately wireless transmitters/receivers are available, as technology gets better. But as always, beware of the cheap stuff.  The most important factor to watch when buying is LATENCY, measured in milli-seconds (thousandths of a second). The greater this number, the more time it takes for the signal you play to be heard on the amp side. This delay is inherent to the functioning of the electronics chips in the units, not the distance to the amp.

The Line6  G10 are OK with a declared delay of 2.9 milli-seconds, more expensive models have this number at 1.5 milli-seconds, which is even better. There are makers of cheaper models on the market, with a  delay of like 12 milliseconds, which in my view is too much.  One might sometimes notice a slight delay when playing, which can be annoying. So, when buying, always watch for LATENCY in the specifications - SMALLER IS BETTER.

Well I have the THR30 latest update, but the G10T relay has to be attached for that update to work.

Meanwhile I've just done a sample vid (camera mic only sadly)

Not only does it sound good ... the playing is good too!

  4. UPDATE on the ES-335 epic story: the first to contact me was Sweetwater, saying they finally have them in stock and available for ordering.  Let's not forget it's July 3rd and a day off for a lot of businesses. Obviously we have a winner here among all the retailers! 😎

When do you think my ES-335 Satin Vintage Burst will arrive?

I received an email from Sweetwater today (July 3rd), saying that ES-335 Satins are finally in stock and available for immediate shipping. They also said to hurry up with orders, or they'll run out soon.

I got the feeling, that Sweetwater is some kinduva prime dealer, going the extra length for the most important thing when running a business: happy returning customers. 😎

  6. I can listen to this all day. But I still think Blackmore belongs on the guitar there.
(Nothing bad to say about the band, they look like pros. Just never heard RJD in this context before. Thanx for the education!).

Taylor Swift is in love with herself,  and about as genuine as a jackalope

I had to look that one up! 😀

    Jackalope [ˈdʒakələʊp] NOUN
a mythical animal depicted as a hare or rabbit with horns, said to exist in parts of North America.
"some dismiss jackalopes as the fantasy of cowboys who spent too long on the range"

Today is June 10, 2020. The year is half over. The Country is re-opening for Business. When will Gibson & Epiphone USA resume building Guitars? I'm particularly interested in the USA Casinos...

    Thanks

How do you know, they're not working & building? There was at least a month, when there was no production, so there was depletion of most models at guitar dealers. When they resume production (if they haven't done so already), they will ship them to multiple dealers all at once, when a full run (series of models) is completed. That is by design, as to not create disbalances in the supply-side of the equation. I think...

  9. Here is a pic of my new 2019 Les Paul Special Tribute DC "Blue Stain". The cheapest Gibson I ever bought.

Mark Agnesi (does he read the forum?) was absolutely right, when he said this guitar is NO FRILLS. But what does that mean?

    • no fuzz or rattle on a new guitar taken directly out of the gigbag;
    • perfect 100% intonation, looks like the wraparound bridge does the trick;
    • visually, the neck is text-book straight, no crooked frets or ugly "tongue"

Just perfect for playing. The only "complaint" is an extremely dry fretboard, after a year in some warehouse.  Lemon Oil took care of that pronto. Thanx Gibson, for a great first-contact experience. I bow in admiration & respect. Can't wait for the ES-335!

Ohh nice..  By they way they do seem to have some nice 335s on offer too 😄 https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/gibson/es-335/

I have had one of those DCs since about 2009.  AMAZING guitars...  The necks are really fast and fun to play and P90s absolutely rock and its a lightish guitar which also makes it more fun ti play. Put it this way. Whenever one of my guitar playing friends come round that's always the guitar they go straight for (and I have three other Les Pauls as well as this on display)

    This is my one
    ...

The red ES-335s are not in stock, but "available for order". I have made an order with my local Gibson-approved distributor, and will wait as long as I have to. Hope I get it while I'm still young.  No joking allowed with such treasures!

Great PIC of a great LP DC, I ordered one of those. Looks like a workhorse guitar, just for playing day & night.

EDIT: the one on the picture is different with respect to the pickguard and tailpiece, and also has 4 volume/tone controls. Mine will have only 2, with a wraparound bridge.

Nice.. What did you go for?   Those single pup DCs are awfully tempting at that price aren't they  🙂

I got a LP special tribute DC with two P-90s. I cannot believe the prices are so low, like35% below list price. I've never before played a P-90 guitar, so this will be something for the history books. 🙂

    It's a 2012 Ibanez AR420 VLS in Tobacco-Burst.

Got it on Reverb with a brand new HSC for $450.  Super Happy with it.  Those 3-tone switches are pretty cool.

I've been looking at these for a long time. Aesthetically, I have always admired them. The finish is great, and I like the abalone inlays also. But I have to say, this thing is built very solid. The p/u switch and the two  3-tone switches are very good switches. You can tell they are solidly built and work very well for a 8 year old guitar. There is tarnish on the gold plating, but that does not bother me (like it does some folks). You can really get a lot of great tones with this guitar.[smile]

    Beautiful guitar!
PS. Checked it on the Ibanez website, those 2 switches do wonders.

I loved the jetsons, it was just a futuristic version of the flintstones.

I have pictures of other styles as well.

I love firebirds and explorers particularly a non reverse firebird, there just a jazzmaster at heart

I saw the blue 335 (?) and dropped my jaw. That one, I adore! #superior_craftsmanship

That was the whole idea of the Explorer, V, and Fird. Look futuristic.

Sadly, I am prolly not old enough to remember. Learned all about The Jetsons on the Cartoon Channel. 😄

  14. I personally am not a fan of Firebirds (they remind me of "The Jetsons"), but do like all guitars in general, especially if they have been taken care-of. Bet those 3 above all have distinct and great sound, so I have to give 10 points! 😎
