Man I want to go to the UK and see all of it.
Dear Pepper i just came back from devonshire and i absolutely love the place i made a trip on a Ducati 748 which i bought from an english man , from Newton Abbott to Milan , England is a wonderful place they are the masters of selling stuff from Guitars to Bikes , you won't be disappointed !
-
fair enough mate but the plug for me originally was in an unconfortable position and all those bunch of knobs squeezed together made a lot of confusion, now is simpler to tell what you are doing where .
ps wonderful Britain i will be there tomorrow, hope to have a plunge into the sea tho' !

In actual fact that is an epiphone which i have totally transformed with a couple of gibson pick ups new potentiometers new capacitor and new knobs as the ones of epiphhone although similar didt fit in.
-
hello there American brothers
Step by step my luthier is trasforming a humble epiphone firebird in a gibson firebird , i have changed both pick ups with gibson's and all the wiring along with gibson potentiomers , as you can see from the pic i have eliminated the standard configuration and left only two volume /tone as i m much confortable with one volume and one tone , my problem is finding the black clips (9mm. ) to cover the holes on the body and the right pots as those of epiphone do not fit very well on gibson potentiometers have you got any tips to sort these problems out ?
cheers

I think it looks fine in that photo.
Hydrating with a fret board conditioner (Nomad F1 Oil or anything made for this purpose) will give a darker appearance.
Honestly thats about as far as I'd take it. Do that maybe twice a year?
hello there i bought the montypresso wax cream do you know if that is working good on it ?
-
Hello there American brothers , since i wanted to buy a Stratoaster i ended up buying a "cheap " player series which sounds really good the only soft point is the colour of the keyboards which is too light compared to rosewood , isn't there a product which can darken irreversibly the pau ferro wood ?
cheers

Weird thing is he did his own maths. If we're to believe that (in less than 24 hours) Marco listed and sold his guitar for €2600, and then we pretend the dealer was able to sell it for that, he'd owe €572 in VAT. Marco expected the dealer to give him €2000. In that situation the dealer would make €28 from which he has to cover all the overheads on the deal and make a living.
By (pretend) selling it for €2600 Marco has absolutely proved that the dealer couldn't possibly make any money if he paid €2000. Marco seems mathematically challenged.
One of the invisible overheads the dealer has is entertaining conversations like this with the mathematically challenged which will never make him a penny.
Dear Farnsbarns it is you who are intellectually incapacitated and a beg you pardon of saying it , my argument is that a Gibson official dealer has the duty to treat well and keep a client , i went there to buy a 7000 bucks Gibson guitar and i hardly understand how they manage to let a Gibson clients run away like that , this is the main point , on top of that he has demostrated to be stupid because he just needed to ask 7600 and put that 600 on my trade -in Rick Beato . this demonstrate how out of touch they are on selling guitars especially GIBSON M2M .

Ask anyone here, I'm a Martin guy. I sold every Gibson I owned when Gibson had to oust Henry J (now two CEO's ago). All your moaning is getting you nothing. Gibson is not going to come to the town you live in and make that store meet your price demands. Gibson ships guitar to stores when they are ordered and paid for. They are now the stores property and can do what they want with them, sell, destroy, give away, whatever, but you have no say what the store must give you for a trade. You and the store talk it out. And if the store doesn't not want to pay you what you want, well they don't have to. Are you not finding this out with your current experience? You just are not getting it are you.
Here is an idea. Sell the Rick Beato guitar yourself. You might get more that what that store wants to give you. Then since you must have the Lira or Euros you can buy that really expensive LP.
Oh gosh ,..... Well if you are Martin guy you should ask them why on earth you pay 3500 bucks for an american built Standard series 0018 to have a guitar that when changes continent is inflating itself like a ball with bindings getting unstuck everywhere, and why a less expensive Mexican model is much more reliable , but you know that is another pair of trousers .
as far as the rick beato i sold it privately for 2600 euro , of course the collateral damage for gibson is that i will never get back there to order a LP custom , if these are their commercial policies they can keep their guitars stuck on the wall .

Marco, why not open a Guitar Shop and run it the right way, and see how fun and easy it is? I'll bet its not. Bills, employees, merchandise, shipping stuff, receiving stuff etc. And then there is always those pesky things called customers who what everything handed to them on a plate.
Dear Pepper , i see that you are a Gibson PR with some assignment in the company , but you are right , before i buy a les paul custom shop for 7000 k , you ought to tell me the exact day it arrives , the badge number on the headstock , the name of the luthier who puts together the guitar , and an up to date feedback on the stages of construction , after that i could sign the contract and give you a deposit .
the era of giving a deposit to a Gibson dealer without knowing anything for a year and maybe receiving a faulted guitar should be put to an end , being you a Gibson P.r. you could report this to those people in the office , all right ?
Fai il bravo dai ! 🙏

He may be right, but it appears he will not be getting his way. A hissy fit or tantrum in the store might just do the trick though.
Pepper i don't know in the States but in Italy they do not have the basic knowledge on how to sell guitars , and that is why you see the same gibson guitars stuck on the wall over and over again , nobody wants to buy when you enter in a shop and the store clerk is rude or with a stiff upper lip , or do not come over to say hello may i help you sir ,with a smile .
if You have the Gibson licence to sell their guitars which are on average at 3500 bucks , you must be knowledgable and trained on that job .

Gibson does not care what their dealers do,
Well that means that at DAIMLER BENZ they don't care of what Mercedes dealers do ?...... or you know at TESLA they do not give a damn on the commercial policies of their dealers .
I have a TESLA with 1000 miles on the clock and i want a new model and want to trade in mine the vendors says ...... well i coundn't care less of your car and your money .
come on don't make me laugh !

I think I told him that too. But he doesn't want to hear it. He just wants $2500 for his Rick Beato DC LP. It works the same way with any product. Companies in business that sell products don't just ship stuff to stores, and say sell it for us, and get us the cash to us when you can. Its like buying on Amazon. If you don't use some way to pay them do they ship what you ordered, N O P E.
Come on dear Pepper do not turn around the pizza ! i didn't say that i want 2500 euros to trade in the guitar i want a fair estimate of a mint new guitar before the purchase of a gibson custom estimated at a cost of 7200 euros , if the dealer says that the guitar was sold at 1610 euros which is absolutely not true that means that he 's ready to trade in this guitar for 1200 euros which is totally absurd for it is now on the market at 3000 bucks !
question ; for how much he will re-sell this guitar? if he puts this guitar out at 1600 euros he should looks like bonkers to me !

You really have no idea how this all works, do you?
rct
Dear RCT , I do indeed ! the dealer wants to make money for doing nothing ,and since i realised that Gibson can sell its guitar to someone else the ball is in their court they won't sell and one day they will ask the dealer why orders do not arrive
back to basics logic inn'it ?

Why does the dealer have to accept your trade? Some Italian law states that? You wanted to trading in a USED guitar for some of the collateral, understandable. It may be mint, but its a used guitar.
No dealer is going to give you full value of what you originally paid. If you were in business to buy and sell guitars would you give some more that what its worth?
If I'm an official Gibson Dealer , and a client trade in a mint Gibson guitar for a new Gibson guitar worth 7000 K i must do my utmost to favourite the deal, if not you should be strapped of the GIBSON ROYAL WARRANT , that is a piece of cake !

Come over to England to see if you can get a better deal, there are a lot of competitive dealers here or see if you can come to some arrangement with Andertons regarding your trade-in, I've never bought a guitar online but I would imagine they will have some arrangement available, that's their business. The first step is to ring or e-mail them.
Good luck 🙂
Sure enuf despite Brexit i prefer to make business with British dealers , i 'm sure that in England i would have found the right compromise because their first duty is to satisfied a customer .
they smile , they say hello when you get in the shop , in italy when you enter in a guitar shop they don't even care to say , may I help you sir ? this is the problem of the Italian vendors , that is why i proudly ride in right hand wheel british car in Italy

@marco mancini why do you think Italy is special?
im in Canada, I was the first post that told you you’ll get 40-60% of the last ‘retail’ sale price,
RCT also told you the same thing and I’m pretty sure his in the USA.
so just because you have a Beato that used market trend is a bit higher than they first came out means nothingthats not how any business works
seeing that you are so business oriented for sure you are certanly aware of a thing called AFTER MARKET , if i'm a Gibson client and i look to trade in a gibson guitar for a new gibson the dealer has a moral duty to satisfied his client , here we are not talking of 60 % 40% or whatever , here we are talking of the attitude the italian dealers have towards their customers , they are rude , bad tempered , and they are not even able to say hello when you get in , that is the main point , and i believe that Gibson will have to get in their way to teach them how to sell their dearly guitars
-
I think that gibson will look at sales numbers their dealers are making , well if it is not like that no wonder they change CEO's every now and then 😄

Don't forget the dealer has to cover his overheads, make a profit and probably have to pay VAT on it.
Well , i think that the dealer has to make sure that the customer will come back , unfortunately in Italy guitar dealers like car dealers looks like they do their utmost to hated , me myself had to buy my two cars in England because i hate how the italian dealers sell cars and guitars alike , they are on their pedestal and you should be treated like a scum who get in pay a guitar and get off the shop , they really don't care at all if you will be back or not , for them the most important thing is selling the object . i bought on line from Anderton in the UK and i had a very different feeling that they do care of their clients , this is the main difference .

Trading is not for the faint-hearted. Your demands for a trade based on current eBay/Reverb/Craigslist/Facebook retail tomfoolery is way out there. They can only trade you based on what they themselves can sell the guitar for, not what some joker on the internet a thousand miles away says he got for his. How much you paid for something means absolutely nothing when you trade.
rct
And as far as you are concerned for how much they would sell such a guitar given that at the moment you find them at 2500 on average ? If he sells a mint Rick Beato at 1500 he's really out with the fairies and that's why i understand he kept the same gibson guitars stuck on the wall for a very long time
-
hello there folks i would like to ask you an opinion on trade-in policies which some official gibson dealers have ;
recently i have asked my dealer (an italian one gibson official ) to order an M2M gibson les paul custom (VOS not aged ) and i wanted to trade in a near mint Gibson les paul special Rick Beato
The estimate for the les paul custom M2M was 7,149 euros but when i went there to trade in the Rick Beato he stated that the guitar was sold back then at 1.619euros which i didnt believe as the price list of Gibson was 1999 dollars
https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Electric-Guitar/USAQQJ682/TV-Blue-Mist
and that i couldn't asked more as in reality i bought it to another official dealer for 1999 euros as more or less the price list of Gibson sold the guitar back then . Of course i told him that that kind of guitar , mint as it is , is sold right now at 2500 euros and i was ready to trade in the guitar only for for at least 2000 , for in any case i was prepared to add 5150 euros for a new gibson which is in any case is a great esbourse for a client of the brand
long story short the dealer didn't accept the deal .
Am i right to ask Gibson and signal the dealer in question or was he right not to accept the trade in ?
cheers

Anyone else experience one of these? I have seen a couple of YT videos where peeps received their long awaited AJ LPS only to have a broken headstock upon receipt.
I purchased an AJ LPS with a broken headstock off Reverb for pretty cheap, and one thing I found when disassembling for the repair was the tuners adjacent to where the headstock broke off (two E strings) where extremely tight in the openings - and it wasn't just paint, clear or compound build up. I ended up replacing them with Grover 502 locking tuners, which had plenty of room in the tuner holes.
Curious if the extra pressure in shipping was enough to snap off the headstock - thoughts?

Good Grief ! i would throw it in the bin for anger

it's possible that they are doing the more honorable thing and keeping the prices on NOS at the rate that they bought at, and not a reflection of the current increase
we all know it's all what people will pay Chris
$10,000 for a Murphy labs les paul is a pretty good extreem example. Yet, they're selling em.
OTOH, I'm not sure I could find a reason to drop $2,600 on a Stratocaster. just in principle alone. Are they nice? yes, I just set one up this past weekend for my son.
And with just a wink south of $3k for a les paul? yes, it's a lot of money.
But! Out of line with going prices for similar caliber of instruments from other builders?
I'm not seeing that.
Everything is crazy these days, and it's from Eggs to Guitars.
The stigma of it all when it comes to what Gibson charges vs. everyone else, the court of public opinion has me amused.
Well i fear that Murphy lab Gibson guitars are becoming like swiss wrist watches "emotional things" rather than instrument to be played and kept , i see the second hand market in Italy of Murphy Lab ,guitars nearly never touched and already on the market , if the market of gibson custom shop is "clogged" full of never played guitars what is the point in ordering a new Murphy lab M2M when they do not give the exact price , the exact day they deliver the guitar to the dealer and with the risk of paying a simple les paul custom vos 10.000 bucks when you have a market full of non played guitars at 3500/4000 ?
