Born in NJ at Passaic General. I grew up in Cali and the whole what exit you from still kills me and you guy confirm its a thing.

Hi Sgt.  yeah it's a real thing.  It's some kinda short-hand slang thing, since we all know what towns are at each exit.  The only other true NJ thing is the venerable "Official State Sandwich" - Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese on a Kaiser roll.

Hi Tom, I'm still here too, on the Jersey Shore.

    Best.

Hey Joe,  Friday nights and Monday mornings must be a pleasure with the shore traffic ramping up.  My brother lives in Point Pleasant, but we visit on the week days during the summer just to avoid the two hour commute instead of the usual 45 mins during the rest of the year.  Enjoy the shore, very cool place indeed!

  2. Happy Father's Day to all with that job title.  Got an excellent bottle of bourbon from the kids (good for colds, cleaning paint brushes, and just tastes damn fine).  Hanging out on the deck tonight with a neat glassful.

I was in the Army for a great number of years.  Decades.
Working for them for the past few years as a Government Servant as well, and now a civilian contractor.

    The current gig is great.
Flight test. Objective, purely scientific endeavors.
Working with people of high integrity.

    Really loving it.

Hoping to retire completely in about a year and a half or so. Mebbe two years.   When the house is paid off.

    THEN, buddy, look out.
    Naked gardening.
    Wine for breakfast.
The neighbors filing restraining orders against me for excessive guitar noises.
Widow ladies hanging out topless by the pool.

You know, the usual retiree stuff.

    😉

Wow Sparquelito,  that's some retirement plan, love it!  I retired after 45 years in the pharmaceutical business to this:

No gardening (too many thorns), but walk beast of a dog thru neighborhood

Beer and cold pizza for breakfast

    Copy that on items three

Chasing wife around house (she just sprained ankle, advantage: Me)

Get retired, you won't regret it!

    Regards,

    Tom

  4. Hi OldGibson, small world.  I spent some time in Marshalltown Iowa back in the 80's/90's.  Big difference from New Jersey, but we really enjoyed our time there.

Spent a bit time in the area, especially at Rube's Steakhouse.  Had a blast while working out there.  Enjoy your time here.

  5. Blanton's, if I can find it around here.  If not, then one of the flavors of Jefferson's or Woodford Reserve bourbon.  My youngest daughter lives in Kentucky and we visit once or twice a year, and always build in a distillery tour.   The Jim Beam tour was excellent, strongly recommended if you ever get out that way.  BTW, awesome bourbon burst guitar!

  6. HI Rabs,

can't go wrong with the Blues Jr.  I know it's a bit pricy for guitar demos, but if your aim to sell guitars, a good sounding amp is key.

Also don't know who you're selling to.  Experienced players should be able to account for an amp tone, whereas a novice player may not.

    Best Regards and good luck!

  7. Hello Grassy, nice to hear from you.  Since I retired, I try to spend some time every day and play.  I try to be somewhat disciplined with time spent on learning a new skill or song, practcing technique, then some free time.  Hope you can find the motivation and fun to keep up your guitar playing

    Regards!

  8. Count me in on this.  Its been happening to me for years.  A few years ago I had a bite guard to wear at night to stop grinding and finally saw next to last molar on top is not in line with the rest of the teeth.  Since then I try to be aware of how I chew on that side but sometimes will bite the cheek.  Then once that happens, its swollen and will do an encore just for the pure misery of it.  Retirement is cool, but the crappy dental insurance sucks.

  9. Over the last four days built a guitar rack to replace three stands.  The rack holds eight guitars and was built with leftover wood, walnut stain, and carpet.  Cash outlay was a princely $8. Today is the first day it has been put into use.

  10. First, hats off to you sir for your service.  Wow Sgt. Pepper, extensive travel resume!  It's great to travel on somebody else's dime.  I worked for big Pharma and used to do regular trips to P.R, staying in the company house at Dorado Beach (easy 3 hour flight home on weekends).  Had a year-long assignment in Singapore with two 3 weeks trips back home.  then a few shorter gigs (about 1 month each) in Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, France and Italy throughout the years.  Always wanted to return to some of those places with the family and finally did so about 8 years ago to Spain, France and Italy.

As for White Castle, we have one in town a few blocks away.  That's a meal that will stay with you for a few hours, if you know what I mean.

  11. Hello All,

Like so many here, started playing guitar in high school in the 70's and a few years beyond, then stopped when life got in the way.  Started up again about 20 years ago when one of my kids found the guitar a closet.  Since then was able to amass 12 guitars of various brands (Fender, Yamaha, Teye, Epiphone, Gibson, PRS, etc).  Hope to be able to contribute something of value once in a while with the membership of this fine forum.

    Regards,

    CNJ
