  1. Oft.. Well that’s that then.. No return possible due to being played so.. expensive lessons learned.. thanks again for all the help. And I’ll sign off. 👍
  2. This is how I understood it but thought maybe I’m missing something
  3. I was assuming this part means that if the shop isn’t interested then your stuffed? **Customers who purchased product outside the U.S should contact their local distributor for the handling and resolution of all warranty issues as the above-described Gibson Gold Warranty is not applicable. but if I can go directly to Gibson Europe then that’s what I’ll do. again thank for all the help, much appreciated
  4. Thanks for all the help, i am looking at it all, I have been dealing with the store manager for all of it.. (who has the same guitar).. but I’ll need to wait till I get the guitar back from the assessment centre to see what the shop will say when I ask if that’s what his guitar is like??. I had the email read to me over the phone so I will be asking for a copy for my records, as it might just have been fixed somehow to play properly?? Although it doesn’t say that on the email I was read. all it did was say no crack on neck, and then list all the cosmetic issues and the manager stated it’s been played (and basically I’ve not looked after it which if this was the case I wouldn’t dream of trying to do anything about it as it’s cosmetic and doesn’t affect playability) but all marks where on it when I got it but due to only being able to see them in certain light I didn’t notice them for a couple of days and realised that this would be pinned on me if I took it back for that, so thought I’d leave it.. I will have no option of returning it due to this.. that’s why I had pushed for the assessment to have it replaced.. I can deal with cosmetic issues as it’ll get more as time goes on because I play my guitars.. and if it bugs me that much i would look at sorting it.. but again for me playing the guitar is my main focus.. the warranty through Gibson should cover a replacement for neck issues but yes maybe I should get them to setup.. and see if it stays setup… I have had it setup a few times but after a day or so the relief has changed and the tuning and intonation will be out and this was happening until the crazing moved to the end of the fretboard and from that point I could tune it but it would only be in tune for say for instance G,C,D,F but not A and E or something and having to adjust the intonation every time just got really frustrating.. obviously my first thought was I’m doing something wrong here… so took the guitar I had built that I had setup.. i in set everything on it and did a full setup following Jim De Cola’s instructions from his video and low and behold it worked fine so.. that then made it clear to me that it has an issue.. and took it back for the assessment.. basically I’m not the kind of guy to make a fuss about things but as this is my first Gibson I’ve been in denial I think and the store is not having any of it.. especially after the assessment has said it’s normal.. believe me if I lived in a country with a Gibson factory I would have drove straight there to have them assess it.. as I’m fairly certain they would look at it and say yup the neck has popped.. I have explained what the neck has done since I’ve had it but the store do not want to know and being in the uk Gibson have told me I need to go through the store for assessment and warranty as they are the original owner (as such) so warranty is through them.. but I will continue to push and will call Gibson to talk to them in person to see if they say it’s normal but.. UK to USA calls are quite pricey and yes I’ve bought an expensive guitar but I am by no means in a position to be spending money I don’t have.. which is why the first time I took it back the shop said the issues I had explained where chargeable works.. but again thanks for all the advice I will be actioning it once I have the guitar back and email from assessment to back it up.
  5. I’m sorry if I have upset you, not my intention, my receipt says nothing about it and I didn’t receive anything else from the retailer, which I have then asked for the invoice which again says nothing about warranty etc.. with the fight the shop has put up it has made me think there’s something dodgy going on.. but I don’t want to be blowing this out of proportion as surely they would just have say to Gibson this is the issue and order a new one then return that one … or is that not how it works?
  6. I haven’t watched it as yet but I will, thanks
  7. Gibson has already said to return to the retailer to get any help with warranty, which I have done and couldn’t find the assessment centre they were sending it to on the Gibson site so asked if they are authorised, which they said they were. So basically as far as I can tell, if they say it’s normal then as far as all are concerned then I’ll be stuck with it… but I just can’t see how the issues it has can be normal..
  8. Just had to take stock here.. I’m here trying to sort out in my thoughts on this issue and then came out of this bubble and thought I’m obviously not as good a person as I thought considering the reality and gravity of the Ukrain so I will stop and say good health and wish all the very best. me thinks we have bigger issues afoot..
  9. Although after reading that it doesn’t make sense to do anything with it if it comes back as normal… but if I can’t get it in tune for all chords and intonate across the board then how can it be normal.. unless Gibsons don’t do it the way all my other guitars do? Just to check I wasn’t being stupid I followed Jim De Cola’s how to guide to setup and cross referencing it with a pretty cool video of Joe Walsh in the 80’s with the luthier he used for his guitar work and then applied that to my Gibson and my built guitar and it worked great on my built one but not on the Gibson? Please don’t miss understand but it has me questioning myself even though it works out on other guitars 🤯🤔🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  10. Aye.. I’m pretty sure from the tone of the explanation from assessment that refund is not an option.. but again if the second opinion comes back as all normal then I’ll leave it at that and get the neck reset and fretboard levelled then regret and setup but if the neck is going to continue to find it’s position then it’s definitely a warranty issue and can go armed with the second opinion and that will not look good on the dealership… btw please excuse my spelling
  11. It was my life story for a good few years 😂
  12. Great song that.. possibly should apply it to life a bit more 😂 but I do have a certain affinity to who are you… 🤔
  13. No, the only return from the shop was “that’s Gibson characteristic as it’s hand made and it sounds fine to me” I had to take it a third time after the crazing moved all the way up and around the join from bottom of heel to end of the fretboard at the pick-up and insisted it be assessed. I’m waiting to pick it up and see what it looks like now.. but have been told this is normal… out of all my other guitars not on has ever done anything like that or had any issues a setup by myself hasn’t resolved.. again I would rather keep the guitar if possible to sort as it feels good in the hands but if it’s not going to play and looks like that then I would rather have a replacement one but then it might not have the same feel.. I haven’t insisted they do anything as I thought that I should allow it to be assessed first.. does that make sense or have I boobed it by having faith in the process..
  14. No I wanted a replacement but it’s not going to happen so.. I’ll take it to a different authorised repair shop and if that mirror the dealership assessment of it’s normal then I’ll leave it at that and fix it myself but if they say the neck has popped then I’ll take it to the next level and see what’s happening from there. again not trying to annoy anyone just looking to see if I have missed anything that someone else may have had similar experiences.
  15. Obviously I realised I have made a $5499 mistake by making a heart over head purchase and I will have to live with it, and obviously I don’t expect to get this issue resolved as it’s just bad timing and I’m to trusting.. but I am disappointed with myself for letting the shop fob me off within the return period but I really wanted to keep the guitar so..
  16. Fair point, although I haven’t actually told them that I have built guitars, only that it won’t setup to the Gibson spec, I did actually take it back before the 14 days and was told to give it time to settle in, and after having had a major surgery was in no condition to be messing around, also was taking it in good faith that I was just being too fussy. But tbh it felt good when I bought it, it just seemed too go down hill from there. It did look a bit twisted on the day but playing it in a noisy shop when unplugged didn’t notice the fretting out. It was only after getting it home and leaving it in the case to settle for a couple of days then trying to setup that I started to notice the issues.. obviously after taking back twice was basically shut down on anything I said and it was put down to me not knowing what a Gibson sounds like or play’s.. to which I stupidly thought maybe so.. and left it a bit longer to settle… this then made the neck seem to pop up at the low E side and look more like it should.. but since then I’m concerned about the structural strength of the join and having it not tune to play all chords, obviously I see how it looks on paper but I really wouldn’t bother to go through all this hassle if it was a cheap guitar.. I would just fix it myself, but being a Gibson and is under warranty I would rather a professional do it. hope that makes sense
  17. I will take it to someone else and then see what’s they’re saying. Thanks again for all your help
  18. I will need to wait till I get it back from the shop, and again I know this sounds ludicrous but unfortunately as usual I am the unlucky one with an issue. As I wanted to buy a Gibson for a reason, being the heritage and quality..
  19. Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.. I had thought of getting a second opinion from an different authorised luthier and taking it from there… as i have been in twice before and all they do is plug it in and noodle, then say it sounds fine.. but due to having kids in bed by 19:00 I was playing unplugged and couldn’t get it to play properly ( this the reason for taking it back twice before) I was getting frustrated and tried to explain to the shop.. but feel on deaf ears as noodling on single note won’t show up the same as playing chords and due to not feeling up for nonsense after major surgery.. I just left.. I am recovering nicely now and not willing to be lumbered with a lemon will be taking this to whatever level I need to to get it resolved…
  20. I’m not sure I want to name and shame till I get the guitar back from them and see what they say when I pull them up for talking to me like I’m daft and obviously check if it still looks the same but of the pictures I’ve posted before and can be seen with the naked eye.. the fact they are trying to say they can’t see a crack running up one side of the neck join after I explained seeing the twist one day and the the twist looking less twisted the next and this cracking slowly moving up one side and along the body fretboard join.. which wasn’t there when I bought it.. but it’s normal for Gibsons to do that 🤷‍♂️.. I’m obviously not as experienced as they are… how are all you Gibson owners getting on with this normal neck twist and joint cracking thing? 😂
  21. That was probably me 😂.. aye that’s exactly what’s happened but it’s normal and then they pointed out I’d taken the pick guard off and put a big chip in the Finish.. (indent from sort finish when put on as it is smooth and shaped just like the mount 🤔) also nothing was said about the neck hump or anything to do with playability.. just pointing out in a smug way that basically I am being fussy and any issue is my fault.. I’m at a loss
  22. I wonder if this is what happens when I talk.. would explain quite a lot of situations I find myself in…🤔
  23. Wtf is diuretic?? 😂 that was supposed to say sure!! 🤦‍♂️
  24. Sod’s law applies to the majority of my life🤦‍♂️You would think I’d be used to it after 40’odd years or is it gluten for punishment 😂 sorry for the downer of a post but had to get it off my chest.. and sorry ranting as I’m diuretic you guys have read the post I had on it before I found out the outcome…
