  1. Hi, I was searching for info on my Gold Top Les Paul Deluxe and found this topic on the Forum. I bought this very guitar from Geoff back in November 2015. I’ve checked out the pots with a magnifier and 3 of them ( matching ) show 1972 date codes, the 4th ( stackpole ) pot shows a 1973 date code. given the pancake body, mini humbuckers, small volute, serial 130091 and MADE IN U.S.A. stamp, would it point towards 1973 manufacture ? Or 1972 with replacement pot ? any advice appreciated !
  2. Thanks very much for your reply !Would this be how it left the factory ?Cheers B.

  4. Hi Rod, I'm still out here !Thanks for your reply. What is the difference between the Special and the Special II ?and would it have left the factory like this ? ( eg. With pickguard fitted, or would it have been added later ? )any help is greatly appreciated, cheers Brian.
  5. Hi Kidblast, the serial number is the one in the original posting, it is 81784512,Cheers Brian
  6. Thanks for taking the time to reply Chris, good logic ! Cheers Brian.
  7. Just to clarify my reason for asking if the scratch plate could have been fitted at the time of manufacture. There is a slight ridge in the lacquer ( which doesn't polish out ) the exact shape of the scratch plate, it's as though the lacquer wasn't totally set when the scratch plate was fitted.I'd appreciate your thoughts ? Cheers Brian.
  8. Thanks very much to both of you ! there isn't much gets passed you guys ! I took the strings off last night and removed the scratch plate and it looks like you're spot on. Is there any way it could have left Gibson Iike this or has it been done by an owner at a later stage ? as the quality of finish is very high, cheers Brian
