  1. I noted the same thing, but it seemed to make more sense that is a "five" rather than an ''S". Who knows, will probably remain a mystery. The guitar is gloss.
  2. At Grog's suggestion, I reached out to the member on the Les Paul forum. His response: ......More than likely, at some point in the production process before neck fit, it was decided that this "body" would become a 335 instead of a 355. Another guess is the WC initials were possibly who signed off on the change. Again, just a guess.
  3. Thanks Grog. I've sent him a message. The interesting thing to me is the markings are ES355 00, while this guitar is a 335. Hopefully, he'll have some insight.
  4. Here's something curious. Today I pulled the neck pickup on my 335 and saw this marking on the body.
  5. I had the 57s on a Les Paul that I no longer have, but really liked them. I only recently acquired my 335 which has the T-types and initially I was wishing I'd sought out one that also had 57s. Now that I've had some playing time with the Ts, I also like them. They seem a little brighter than the 57s but that observation might be explained by the guitar in which they are used---semi-hallow vs solid. I plan to keep them.
  6. I'm not concern about the process of mounting it---just the fitment considering what some suppliers call the "short" foot, which still puts the guard slanted away from the body. I've discovered that Kluson makes one that is even shorter at .875 inch and should level it out a little better. Problem solved I think. Thanks guys.
  7. Thanks. Steve, does the upper part where the pick guard meets the pickup ring, does that sit flush on the top? Or, is there any type of spacer between the pick guard and the body?
  8. My new 335 came without the pick guard mounted. From what I've been able to determine, it has the "shorter" offset foot (3/8") that attaches to the side. I have not drilled and mounted it yet, but when I position it in place it really seems that even with the shorter foot, the pick guard will end up in a plane that slants "away" from the guitar top. I was expecting that it would be level with the pickup bevel. Does this sound about right or am I in need of different hardware?
  9. Yea, it has the Baggs VTC. I haven't plugged it in yet but will change it if needed. I have an older Fishman UST in a Martin 000 that I've run thru a Strymon Iridium and FRFR speaker and it's pretty decent. I'll play around with that setup initially and see where I end up.
  10. Ha! And that is EXACTLY what I did earlier today. It is essentially brand new condition. So far, I'm super happy with this and think it will make a nice compliment to my Martin OM and 00. The action is just a tad too low for my liking. I'll play it 'as is' and see where it goes. Perhaps a new saddle down the road. Thanks everyone for your comments and guidance.
  11. Thanks for replies. I guess I was puzzled since all the other TVs I had looked at had the factory installed pickup. Now just trying to decide between a Standard, a True Vintage, the 50s Original and Vintage. My Les Paul Jr has the 'old-style' logo and I like that they's offered this on some of the acoustics. I've owned a few Les Pauls but this will be my first Gibson acoustic.
  12. Hi there. New to this forum and currently looking at acquiring a J45 to go along with my Martin 00 and OM. Found a 2012 TV that does not have factory installed pickup. The Standard and Original 50s that I've looked at had UST. When did Gibson start offering electronics on the J45 models? Not a huge deal breaker for me either way, but nice to understand a little bit about how the J45s have evolved and which direction I want to go. thanks you kindly.
  13. Just curious, what is it about the Banner saddle that makes it LESS ideal for the Anthem system?
