I definitely get that. My favorites are my 335 and LP Std, but I love my AS Tele, too. I definitely have to pay more attention to my technique to get that Tele to sound its best. I really think it's in the scale length.

For the record, I posted a little over a year ago about how Gibson replaced a 2012 Memphis ES-335 with substandard workmanship. It was actually the third one that I brought home from Guitar Center... the other two had irreversible neck issues. I fault GC for trying to sell bad product as well as Gibson for QC issues. Gibson customer service was really nice, and very responsive, and took responsibility for their issues. The replacement process was seamless, and the replacement guitar is flawless. So kudos to Gibson.
Other than those 335s, I've owned two LPs, both flawless and a joy to own and play.
I can understand being frustrated with bad product and bad service. I'm sure it happens. Everybody makes mistakes. It's how you deal with mistakes as a supplier that really determines the quality of customer satisfaction in the end. I suspect those who complained had legitimate issues and just wanted somebody to help. I think they felt like coming to this forum was their last resort. I choose to believe that people genuinely want to like the product they purchase, and don't want to go through the issues related to poor customer service. I think the newer leadership at Gibson is committed to the customer in a way that didn't exist under the former leadership.

I went into a brick and mortar shop to buy a Godin 5th Avenue, but got side tracked and tested an Ibanez AFJ91 against an Epiphone Joe Pass. The Ibanez played and sounded MUCH better, so I walked out of the shop with it. The AFJ91's tailpiece cracked on its own within the first year, and I replaced it with a tailpiece from All Parts. I bought it to play jazz, and it was more than adequate. These days, I don't play traditional jazz, so I don't really want it anymore, and it doesn't get played. Of the eight guitars I currently own, I may get rid of it for that reason... should have bought the Godin. But don't get me wrong... except for the tailpiece, it is a very good value.

I don't gig anymore, not that I ever did that much, anyway. I've always been one to play more for my own enjoyment.
If I did gig, my go-to would be an Epiphone Dot with Fralin P-92s.
My preferred guitar to play at home is a 2020 ES-335, though I love my 2008 LP Standard and my 2007 AS Tele with Fralin Steel Pole 42s.

I'm no expert by any means but the truss rod cover and nut don't look stock and there are no nibs on fret ends. And this is totally subjective, but the neck looks wide at the nut, and the finish looks too glossy, plastic, and clear for NC. Hope I'm wrong. Better pics might be more helpful.

The "T" obviously stands for thin line. Gibson apparently made an ES-350 with a thicker body (like the Tar Farrow mentioned by cody78) and humbucker pickups. An excellent jazzer I know would never part with his.

Apparently, the pickups in the '88 are Bill Lawrence "The Original" models which I know nothing about. The new 335s have "calibrated T-Types" which do not lean as much to a very warm, dirty low end, and have better articulation than most Gibson humbuckers that have traditionally gone into 335s.

No doubt, you won't really hear a sample on youtube, even with good headphones, and esp. what it would sound like thru your own rig. But, there are things you can hear, like texture, articulation, and some semblance of timbre... even better in a comparison. I heard a comparison of "PAFs," P-90s, and mini humbuckers on a youtube, and as much as I like P-90s, the mini humbuckers sounded best in that test.

The new ES-335 has "calibrated T-type" pickups instead of the traditional '57 classics. From what I can tell, the newer pickups are more articulate (less muddy) and not as warm as the old ones, but not quite as well rounded and pretty as the '57s. Some may describe them as lifeless, but I actually prefer them, esp. cranked where their texture really shines through.

After playing P90s exclusively for a year, everything else just sounds dull.
I bought a used Epi Dot for $300 and installed Fralin P-92s for another $300, and for $600, I've got a guitar that feels and plays like a 335, but probably sounds closer to a 330 than a 335. Like you, I love P-90s. I may have painted myself into a corner, because almost all of my guitars have pickups with similar sonic descriptions to P-90s... more mids, better articulation than most humbuckers and more like single coils, and a little more grit.

I stay parked at volume 5 or slightly less at 1W, and I also only use the updated, on-board reverb. I don't gig anymore, so that's about all the volume I can take in my 15'x 20' music room.

I assume the OP has gone through the Gibson site to get contact information. My contact started with an email and pictures. Of course, I had receipts and warranty info. attached.
If the complaint is legit, my experience is that customer service is very responsive. In fact, while addressing my issue, I received contact from two different customer service reps.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and I hope the OP will follow up on this thread to enlighten us on his progress.
I would hesitate to chastise the OP for posting this. How many legitimate complaints have been registered on this site by long time members through the history of this board? Plenty.
