  1. I own a 2008 Dove and 2002 J-150 (J-200 without binding).   Id say the main diff is the super jumbo is more balanced, while more bottom end with the Dove.  I really like the Dove a lot, even more than my Hummingbird, but, the J-150 is just too good and gets 80% of play.

  2. Thats really lovelly Guth. I do recall hearing a couple of your tracks some 8 years ago that I really loved.  It really inspired me to start my journey with fingerpicking. This is a lovelly reminder.

Brraavou - giant steps forward since the beginning. Are you auto-tuned ?

    The butterJumbo sounds superb ^

Must check the previous song soonest.

Em7 .. good to hear from ya !  Yes, i do have slight auto tune on this track (not the earlier one)  otherwise i would screw up the notes on that intro melody humm. There is also a 3rd lower harmony on the VL-3 that i sing through.

Thank you for commenting, trust your keeping well and safe my friend.

  4. So I was told from others i was bit too bleak and the demanded a happier tune ... but todya the sun is out, so here is my fave happy go lucky tune from The Cure ..

The maple jumbo in full flight in this one.

Sal says to keep on posting so ..

  5. Yeah, probably a bit too much projection for straigjt up strumming (like an AJ) but for lead work, finerpicking and hybrid strumming its a winner ...which is more Slash's kina style, so makes sense.

  6. Thanks for listening and your comments guys, nice to be back on the board. Yeah, i just felt like i wanted to capture this tune in the current mood. Yes Lars, Nick Cave & Bad Seeds,  and yes, it does showcase the power of the big bodied maple Gibby Jumbo. I really do love how it sounds plugged in, both in terms of the note clarity but also the layers of sound you can get out with relatively little work .. theres only two chords in the song, but the single notes really do ring out.

Stay safe out there and thank you for listening and commenting.

  7. What a great comparisement. Both sounded great,. I  was listening mainly from a perpective as the guiar as a vocal companion.  I thought if just on its own, played without vocals Id prefer the chunky, dry tone of the vintage SJ.  But with vocals, Id go for the lusher,  less boomy tone of the modern SJ.

EA, just checking - do you still have the broad herd - guess NO. The Bird then, , , or did the Dove clean the sky. .

I do .. havent sold off since the AJ about 3 years ago. Just dont play out much these days, but its all still hangin on the wall.  But if I was going to let a Bird go it would be the Hummy over the Dovey ...

Great pickguard Richie , could you consider making a leftie J200 for me? 🙏

Given this thread is six year old you might have some challenges with getting a response. However I had a custom guard made for my J-150 few years back that still looks like new and is of much better quality than the standard version you get on a J-200 these days. Check out the link below. Im sure htey can do a leftie.
