  1. Found this on my local Craigslist the other day and picked it up today. It's a Peavey Heritage VTX 130 combo. Listed as an '82 model. Sounds good. Loud, too. Cool sounding amp. Also has a built in phaser effect, too. The guy bought it brand new and only gigged it twice and tucked it away all these years. Still has the original tubes, manual that's still sealed in the bag, and price sticker on it. It is a hybrid amp. Got it for $180.

  2. So, I have a 2003 Fender Show Master that's a single pickup guitar and I've been thinking about a new pickup for it. Decided on an EMG 81 X.  Just got it installed today. Really loud and punchy pickup. I'm very happy with it. Suits this guitar very well! I've been curious about the X series from EMG for awhile.

Niiiicccceeee one!!!  How's that Marshall doing that we fixed up?  Still alive?

Thanks! Perfect! No more issues at all! Sitting on top of my '76 Sound City 4x12 cab at the moment.  You said it was biasing and a bad resistor, right?

  4. Picked this up from Reverb Monday and it came in today. It's a 2001 Epiphone Nuclear Extreme Les Paul.  Always thought these were super cool. Getting ready to put new strings on it and play it.

  5. New pedal day for me! It's an Earthquaker Devices Plumes. I'm not too familiar about the company and never played one of their pedals before, but I know enough about them to know they make great pedals. This one is a drive pedal. Plugged it up through my Fender Twin and it sounds fantastic! Here's a pic:

Also, I found this video from Reverb on YouTube for those who are interested in one of these.

  6. So, this just came in today from Reverb. It's a 2002 Gibson SG Voodoo.  Got a pretty good deal on it and it's in pretty good shape. I've been wanting one of the old Voodoo series for years. I started playing guitar in 2000 when I was 8 years old and these came out when I was 9 or 10 and I've been wanting one in that series ever since, so I'm happy to finally have one. Plays and sounds great, too. Just needs new strings, which I'm getting ready to throw on.

Most of these are "customer returns".  Uhhhhh, as in "it does not work" or "it works just fine, but I did not like it"?  Answer:   Yes

18% premium on bids.  Shipping is the bidder's responsibility.

Example: LOT of 8 PEAVEY VALVE KING VK 100 GUITAR TUBE HEADS; starting bid: $50

That and unsold stock, too. May be able to snatch something from this auction dirt cheap.

Growing up in the south in the 1960's and getting into music Peavey was a revered name. Every shop sold their equipment, its was the brand of choice for many. Their T series guitars were built like tanks and weighed like one. I remember a friend who owned a Peavey amp and a T-60 guitar using his guitar to crack pecans. He would throw a pecan on the floor and take his T-60 and pound down on the pecan. Never bothered his guitar. His nickname was Pea--Can. The boy loved pecans, Marlboro Reds  RC Cola. and the Blues.

Haha. Cool story. I've been very interested in a T-60 for years. Ever since I was a kid and first seen Johnny Copeland play one. Maybe one day I'll check one out or have one.

I've had several Peavey amps over the years. I've always liked them a lot.  I'm looking at this as they are just selling off the warehoused material thats been sitting around since they changed their operations. I could be wrong.

I still want one of their 1x15 Delta Blues amps. I'll get one someday.

I've been curious and thinking about a Delta Blues or one of their Classic series for a good long time, too.

  10. Just now seen this article. Thought I'd share and see what everyone's thoughts are on this. Saddening because Peavey has always made great quality products here in the USA and I've always really liked Peavey stuff.  Was just playing through my Peavey 5150 2 half stack earlier. Absolutely love that amp.

I've always thought about getting an old school Kramer just because I've always ben a fan of the '80's hair and glam stuff, but I have an '86 Charvel Model 4, so that serves me well. But, I'm just really curious about what Epiphone model he had was ever since I first seen it when I was 11 or 12.  Never seen another one like it. Like I said, the closest thing I've seen that comes close to looking anything like it was the Gibson US-1 model. I wish I was still in contact with the guy so I could ask him.

How did you go about obtaining him.? If you don't mind me asking.

    pets are great!

Found a breeder on my local Craigslist who breeds Boston Terries, Pugs, and I believe Golden Retrievers.

The little guy looks hungry...  Did he get any 4th of July leftovers? 😀

Haha, no. Just spent some time with some close childhood friends of mine last night at their place for the 4th.

Very possibly but it might have been a good idea. It all came about when Henry and his chums were trying out different weight-relief ideas. One Chromyte dead-end was the Les Paul Lite (and assorted variations thereof) and folks who have them really rate them highly.

If there WAS an Epi like the US-1 it might be worth a punt. The resale value for Epi Strats isn't going to stretch anyone's purse-strings. Mine (mentioned above), bought through a south London dealership a few years ago, cost $120.

    Pip.

On your US-1 comment. I wasn't saying it was an Epiphone version of it, just saying it closest resembled the Epiphone my old neighbor had and was wondering what model it could have been.

It all depends on how close, exactly, you are thinking. There have been a great number of Strat-style Epi's released over the years and especially the 1980's - I have one (SSS) myself as a matter of fact - but I've never seen one exactly the same as that; i.e. made from Chromyte and with a figured top. I think I am correct in saying that Gibson coined the name 'Chromyte' to try to make Balsa-wood (hence the light weight as mentioned) seem more acceptable to their buyers.

The closest I have seen to the one pictured is probably the Epi X-1000.

    Have a google...

I think that possible could be what it was.

  17. Years ago, when I was a little kid, I had a neighbor who played guitar.  Super cool guy who was about 10 or 11 years older than me, I believe. He had some cool guitars. One was a Gibson Les Paul Standard or Classic that he had repainted purple, a home made Strat style, an Epiphone acoustic, and an Epiphone electric that I've never seen before or since.  I don't know what the model was, but it was red and the closest thing I could find that looks like it is a Gibson US-1. My question is was there an Epiphone version or equivalent to a US-1 or one similar? I've been trying to find out what model the Epiphone he had was for years.  Can't ask him personally because it has been years since I last seen him or I would.
