  1. You don’t like my decals? Most people don’t..
  2. LMFAO. Dude so you are the guy that buys the “Doves In Flight”! Love that pickguard. Are you a bit more careful when playing it? Or just play it normally? That is a sweet museum piece! Whats the one at the back with the white button tuners and parallelogram inlays (on the left)?
  3. I always thought a D-45 was too blingy, but then I saw the “Doves In Flight” and “Hummingbirds In Flight” and some blinged out J-200’s and was like, those are museum pieces, not a D-45
  4. LOL. Me too. Agree with your assessment.
  5. Agreed. J-200 is my go to.
  6. “Disney” would be ‘Doves In Flight’. You prefer J-45 or studios I guess..No Martin D-45s (that’s the 2nd next on my bucket list).
  7. LOL. Yeah just randomly placed star decals…I think it looks nicer. Some people disagree..
  8. If these were your 3 Gibson Acoustics or choice? I know I don’t have the J-45 the “workhorse” of the Gibson Acoustic guitars, but I’m not really into the sloped shoulder guitars. I might make an exception to an older Adavnced Jumbo or Country & Western…
  9. I can feel the “crack”. I don’t believe it’s structural. I have a feeling it’s the nitro on top of the center seam that makes it more apparent. And as you and the other user mentioned, it’s an all black guitar which will show practically everything up close. The only other full black guitar of Gibson I have is my Ebony 355 which was finished with a VOS so it was already full upon receiving it. But the EP Dove being a brand spanking new guitar with a clean finish, I was a bit taken a back. I know my guitar will age over time, but sometimes you want to preserve a clean look for as long as you can. Unless of course you are paying for Murphy Lab like my NG-355..
  10. Ordered last spring. Gibson was backlogged apparently. Guitar wasn’t made until Nov/Dec 2022. Serial Number indicates Dec 21, 2022. The guitar wasn’t inspected until Jan 23, 2023. I picked it up at the store this past Sunday March 5 when I got the notice that it arrived.
  11. I ordered the guitar last Spring. Gibson did not make the guitar until Nov/Dec 2022. Based on the serial number it is marked at Dec 21, 2022. The “Pre-Package Checklist” shows it was inspected on Jan 23, 2022…I didn’t hear a word until last Sunday that the guitar arrived for pickup at the store. So it’s possible the guitar has been sitting in some kind of storage area for a month and a half. Being winter and all who knows which storage, but if it’s north of the border here it has been fairly cold the past month. We had a very mild Jan and early Feb where it felt like spring temperatures then shortly there after dipped extremely low (almost a 20 degree difference)..
  12. Hi have an Oasis Humidifier and my hygrometer usually reads 48 . I have 2 other acoustics Hummingbird Vintage & J-200 so they are all under the same conditions. As per you suspicions it falls in line with what I was thinking this whole time. I will refrain from using like Gibson Pump Polish or any other stuff for now and let it settle. The guitar did ship in the winter, so many factors at play. I assume also, Gibson’s warranty will not cover finishes cos will that would be a nightmare for them. Even though Gibson charges a lot for these guitars.. Thanks for your feedback & advice.
  13. Hi guys, I got my new Gibson EP Dove on Sunday, noticed though the same day there is a straight (seam line?) lacquer check down the middle from the bridge to the bout. It’s noticeable in some lighting if you are really looking for it. Since it’s a new guitar can anyone advise if it’s covered by warranty? I suspect not, but figured to ask you experts. Secondly, if not any quick fix? It’s still new so want to keep the new look for a little longer… Thanks in advance
  14. So my original assumption is correct? You guys are the Sherlock Holmes of Gibson Acoustics. I suspected a J-50 based off the white plastic button tuners..
  15. Thanks for your feedback 62burst..I’m going to lower the action a bit..Yes the action is high for me at the 12th. I agree with your sediments…What model acoustic you have?
  16. I notice a difference in Tone when it comes to the type of guitar and its woods, the strings you use. But seldom with action…Just my opinion.
  17. Depends on your playin style. High action definitely for slide. Playin leads, I’m more into low, why work so hard?
  18. Actually this is good advice..Sometimes when you get a new guitar the first thing is to get it setup right away. For electric it isn’t too much of a big deal, but for acoustic…Agreed. I think I should wait.
  19. They do, but I don’t trust a big box store tech. They do shitty work (most just do a string change anyways and don’t take the time even on high end guitars). Also don’t want to leave my guitar there for a week….My last experience with my Hummingbird was enough to not do that again (they only closed one latch on the case, and the straplock I asked to be installed on the heel of the neck was not even centered). Would rather it do it myself…
  20. I’m reviewing the “Pre-Pack Checklist” on my new Dove and the Action at the 12th Fret is L: 5/64 and H: 3/64. I’m beginning to wonder if Gibson just writes down the standard preferred action instead of the actual action? When I got the guitar at the 12th I measured L:9/64 H: 7/64. I find it too hard to believe that the “climate” or environmental conditions would change it that drastically. Considering it’s been in its case the whole time.. I like low action like most people. What do you guys keep your action at (at the 12th)?
  21. On some J-50s it does come with the regular guard like a J-45, hence why I thought it could be a J-50. But considering the vid is from 1996 and the time period, you may be correct..
  22. In the video for ‘No One Needs To Know’ Shania is playin’ a sloped shoulder Gibson acoustic. When I was younger I used to think it was a Natural J-45. However, inspecting the vid more and seeing the white plastic button tuners, I’m beginning to think it’s a J-50. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?
  23. I have a J-200 Standard 2 piece with a nice flame back. The Elvis one is really nice with the 2 seam checkerboard strip down the back. Does your EP-200 have a light nitro coating? My EP Dove came with a light nitro coating in comparison with standard Gibson acoustics.
  24. Thanks Dave. I got everything BUT the “Kenpo Karate” sticker…Cheers man. What do you think of the 3 piece back on that 200?
  25. Yeah. It’s a cheesy sticker. I wouldn’t put it on anything let alone a Gibson. But if it comes with the guitar I expect it to be there…
