  3. Some fine capos mentioned already. I prefer the Shubb. Here's why: I think the rubber is firmer than the Keyser's (I use Keysers on my practice guitars for their ease of use); I can adjust the tension to fit various parts of the neck and different guitars; I ordered extra rubber pieces from Shubb so that I can cut them to fit different tunings on seperate strings; and, they're small enough that I can put it right before the fret wire or on the fret wire to maintain proper intonation and still get my chording hand to go up and over it when needed.   4. I own several Epiphones and, occassionaly, have run into a fret buzz issue. It's not a major problem because with a little tinkering, whether by my luthier or myself, it goes away. First, agree with the posts on changing out the strings for the heavier guage. When your strings are off, you can do the 'rock' test. Also, at that time, you might want to 'tap down' each fret wire. Seems Ephiphones have a fret wire issue (especially, if they haven't been humidified properly). It's a quick fix and worth the extra effort.   6. Agree about never seeing a B45-12 without the double triangle in a black headstock field. In 1968 I bought a B45-12N 1964 model. It had the model number 'burned' or 'printed' (can't tell) into a cross brace clearly visible through the sound hole. I agree that you might be dealing with a B25 model.

  11. Yes, sad, introspective but real. Thanks for posting. I had the pleasure to hear her perform @ my college back East when she was barely 17. She performed "17" on a Gibson 12-string, yup, saw it, heard it. Had to be a B 25 12 N since she is petite. Even with the smaller body size of the 25 she could barely get her arm up and over it. Very memorable time. Went to NYC that summer and got a B-45-12N for myself. It was her performance that did it. Still have the Gibby and some fine memories. Your posting brought it all back. Thanks.

  13. I use the Shubb when performing and some Keysers on my cheaper, beater guitars when I'm trying out a new song. The Shubb's rubber is a better and longer lasting than some of the others. Just opinion, I know others think otherwise. Also, its tension can be easily adjusted. On my guitars, I like the Capo to press down hard enough to get a good tone without going sharp (which is a common occurrence). Also, consider that the "deep bass tone" you're looking for has immediately been altered since, when Capo'd on fret 2 or higher, that note is higher regardless of the capo use. You will naturally los
