really nice. what neck profile ?
I was told it was the wide one....it doesn't feel all that wide of a fretboard to me.....feels like a c shaped back profile.......reminds of pf like a gibson 60s slim on the width of the neck with a more rounded shape.
That's the best I can explain it.
It plays very well though

Well....not new but new to me.
Saw this pop up locally. I really like the color. The guy I got it from said it was the wide neck version. Apparently PRS has a way different neck description as the neck does not feel wide at all compared to gibson guitars
I really like the bridge...very simple and works great.
It has a few marks and little pings but it plays very good.
Pickups are decent enough. I know a guy who has a PRS and whatever pickups he put into his are the bomb. I may look into what he chose.

I like it but I don't like how the rear has been cut on the heel and the lack of rear binding.

It looks great. I like the more settle even finish...it makes the wood pop more. So what exact model is it?

I use Imgur.
Here is how I insert photos. It may not be the fastest but it works.
1st Upload your image to Imgur
2nd Copy where it says BBCode.
3rd Paste it in the post, like this.
[img]https://i.imgur.com/NXWxzqt.jpg[/img]
4th Delete [img] and [/img] so it looks like this.
https://i.imgur.com/NXWxzqt.jpg
5th put your cursor after ,jpeg and hit enter and you see a picture of a small dog. Your dog may vary in size or be a snake or car or guitar.
It worked!!!

3/8" sounds thin for a baffle?
But I never built a cabinet.
Back in my electric bar gigging days I used Marshall, Peavey, Mesa and or Carvin cabinets and never really gave em' much thought. I preferred open back cabs for smaller bars though so as to not kill people...
Works good so far.

Interesting
Never heard if this book.
I agree the P bass was, in my opinion, a ground breaking design of engineering.....putting frets on a solid body bass guitar and using the same scale length too.....in a way smaller package.
As far as the guitar goes.....well....they seem to be all kind of similar in design.......unless you get into the standberg headless thing that just does not feel comfortable sitting or standing....IMO
335 was a great body style too......and still is. I have to admit though the Fender strat body is probably the most copied designed piece ever in history and only variations of that seem to have been made the norm now from other brands.

I bought a 20 watt Friedman head locally at a very good deal. I was thinking about getting the matching 1x12 cabinet for it. Well.....after tax it would have been 750 bucks!!
I got to thinking about it a bit. So I decided to make my own...I was just going to rabbit bit the sides and all but I got to talking to my buddy about it who owns a nice wood shop with a dove tail saw. He said get my wood and come over.
Heck yeah!!
I did just that. I went out and purchased select pine from Lowes, bought a pre owned 12" 70 watt Weber Gray Wolf speaker off of ebay along with a leather handle, input jack and metal cab feet. I cut all of the boards to the width and length I wanted. I chose an open back design and made it 22" wide, 20-1/2" tall and 11-3/4" deep. I had to help run the rear side of the dove tail saw while he ran the front. I glued and screwed the cab together. The speaker baffle is made out of 3/8" plywood. I free handed the opening for the speaker with a jig saw. I bought the material I used for the speaker cover from Hobby Lobby. I brushed on a 3 coats of clear and sanded between coats. I had the clear finish left over from a previous project. I had the wire and terminals already so I soldered up a wire to the speaker with a new Switchcraft input jack.
It took about 4 evenings total of my spare time.....Total money all in is less than 215 bucks!!
I owe my friend lunch this week and that figure is included in the total!!
I have about 5 to 6 hours in the build.
I tried to get the pics to embed in my post the old fashion way but I need a new photo hosting site as imgur sucks and has changed. You will have to click on the links. No photo yet of the head on the cab due to the stupid photo host site I use. Sorry!!
Can someone recommend a good photo host site?

From what inunderstand the EL84 tubes are kind of like the kid brother to the EL34 tubes. I never had a good marshall tube amp.....but I do have a Friedman 20 watt head with el84 tubes. Now mind you i just got into this friedman amp stuff however......the guy David Friedman was the Marshall mod guy in his area of CA before he got his own brand up and running. This thing I have sounds like a Marshall on steriods...just flat out bada$$.
So with that said I also had a Fender super sonic 60....I think it has 6L6 tubes if I am not mistaken and it was the best sounding fender amp for high gain I ever heard. Wish I held onto it too.
I have a mesa 5:50 express combo as well. It has 6L6 tubes in it. It is a very good sounding amp.
So here are the differences according to my own ears.
6L6 tubes seem to have more a bass and midrange sound....not very bright but well balanced. The EL34 seem to have more midrange and Treble response.
I don't know of this helps you or not. But....maybe it will somehow.
Good luck!!

Check if are those variable ratio tim? where the base like 18:1 and the treble 20:1?
Not sure if Gibby is doing that but my Kingpin comes stock with this.
The idea is the treble tuners have a finer tunning capability than the bass side
Never heard of that before. I will check into it. Yes on the bass side they feel normal. Then it seems as though there is some slack before the gears feel like they mesh.
Now I have only had this a week and a half and I purchased it brand new. I was told I was one of the first guys to pick it up off of the rack as well. It does stay in tune very well and I have been playing the heck out of it.
-
Was just curious if any of you keep your reissue all stock or by chance do you swap out parts.
I recently purchased a new 57 reissue gold top.
I like everything about it but it seems as though the tuners on the Treble Side seem to have some slack in the gearing.
So with this being said....is this something that is kind if normal and will break in over time?
Or have any of you had a similar experience and if so which way did you go on replacing them?
Drop in fit without any modification is my goal.

Enjoy. There is nothing like getting a guitar you want.

Well of Gruhns is too far go check out Carters. I live in Dickson about 40 miles west of Nashville going toward Memphis.
I am sure you will enjoy the hall of fame....I did.
Enjoy!!

Thanks for the pics. It seems as though your fretboard is darker as well. I really like that. Mine seems to be similar and the back of mine is like yours.
I called gibson today.
Since the color is double gold and is a high gloss model it turns out mine is a made to measure pre ordered to gibson in a small run of high gloss and bright nickle hardware. The only difference between what I have compared to a VOS is the gloss finish and polished hardware.....go figure!!!
It is funny because the dull hardware and not polishing the finish raises the msrp 500 bucks!!
They wanted a run of reissues to look exactly like a brand new one would have in a store back in 57
I am very pleased with mine and yours looks great too!!

Can't beat that!!
Enjoy your new guitars!!

It looks great!
I never had a p90 guitar but thise puppies sound awesome.
Back in 1992 I went to a guitar store in Houston TX. There was a les paul Jr double cut on the wall. Single p90. I think it was a 1960 or 1961. It was only 450.00. I wish I bought it because I did not know what the market was going to do. I played it though and it sounded great. I am still kicking myself in the butt for not taking it

Oh and if anyone else feels like posting their reissue please do so....or any guitar that inspires you to play more or has a story behind it. Go ahead and share away!!

That cicada is awesome!!
We go through that here in TN as well.
And a great tribute trc idea!!!
It seems like the fretboard on yours may be a darker Rosewood as well.
Looking forward to the pics.

I've posted several times the story of how I got it after my friend Ed died. But originally he called me one day, back in 2011, and said he was going to GC to maybe buy this new Epiphone LP and did I want to go with him. He was more of a drummer, but could play guitar and bass too. So we went to GC but didn't think much of the Epi. We started testing other guitars but nothing was impressing us. Then we went into that room you are talking about and they had one of the new Robot Guitar LPs. Tried that and it was nothing spectacular. Then just as we were about to give up and leave, he grabbed this Custom Shop 1957 Reissue and began playing on it. He immediately loved it and we plugged it into a Kustom tube amp. There was another dude in there too and we all sat taking turns playing this guitar and loving it. Although he didn't originally plan on spending that much, he went ahead and bought it. He was drummer in our band, but he would often bring that guitar to gigs for me to play. So when he tragically died one night as we were all jamming, his family told us to take what we wanted of his music gear, which he had plenty of. So I made sure that Gold Top went with me and have it to this day.
This is him holding it the night we brought it home.
Man i am so sorry about your friend. That is terrible ..I hate to hear that.
But you know....the same thing was happening yesterday...in that room.....there was a kick a$$ player in there up here on vacation...really killer licks.....so I asked him to play it so I could get another perspective.....then we jammed swapping licks on it back and forth between a fat neck 61 sg reissue and this gold top....the gold top won hands down.
I wasn't even going to make a purchase.....no kidding!!
But I am extremely glad I did.
I sold off my 81 custom 20 years ago...it was a mistake...a big mistake too.
But this new R7 has put that missing part of me back in place.
That other player and I exchanged numbers and we have been in contact with each other....dang he has some great licks and is a super nice fellow.
Another cool cat that was in there as well used to play for Eddie Raven....real nice guy too.
It was probably the best time I ever had inside of a guitar store.
And as far as your 57 reissue goes....I know it will always be especially special to you because you were with your friend when he bought it and very nice of his wife to offer his stuff.
I bought a pre owned 2003 taylor 810ce last week.
My heart went out to this man. He had some kind of autoimmune disease and has some kind of blood cancer.
He is slowly selling off if his gear. He could not be near me due to his condition...but he was kind and hospitable to me and set up a stool and acoustic amp for me to try out the taylor in his garage.
He told me his wife recently said when he passes away...what am I going to do with all of his guitars......when I heard that, I got to admit, I got all tore up...it got to me...my heart went out to him.....but he was all cool and like...hey I am still here and I do not feel that bad......I hope he is OK. I thought about reaching out to him to say hello.....and he is a super nice fellow too.
If it were possible, could you post a pic on here of the back of your R7 and a few pics of your fretboard?
I would appreciate it.

Welcome back. Congratz on the R7.
The story is actually very similar to the story of how my R7 was originally purchased before I owned it.
Thank you and please share what happened
And why did they part with it??

I have always kind of wanted one. I picked one up recently. It is a 2023 H150 in the Dirty Lemon Burst finish.
The top is a little plain but I kind if like it like that. It really is a very nice quality guitar.
I have only been around one other Heritage that my friend has owned since the late 80s and I always thought it was a great guitar.
Here are some pics of mine.
