  1. Can anyone please tell me why this guitar has both Epiphone and Gibson on headstock? Thanks!
  2. How do we feel about these silky inner flappy case curtain things? Personally, I snip 'em right off.
  3. Hmmm, okay then I'll give it some consideration. Thanks! One other question, do you know what year they stopped putting that black rubber grommet around the pickup selector switch and if so why? Just curious.
  4. Thanks guys! Your input is always greatly appreciated! She's far to spectacular to even consider taking a drill to.😁
  5. Can anyone tell me why there's only one strap button at the tailpiece on this thing? I feel like wrapping the strap end bit around the headstock will put undue stress on the neck. Why would this be missing on this model, hasn't anyone ever wanted to stand while playing one?
  6. Thank you for your reply, that makes sense. Can't wait until she arrives in a few days! Apparently it belonged to an L.A. studio musician so which explains why it looks brand new. It was well stored and only used on certain recording sessions. Talk about a lucky break, the guy said I bought it just a few minutes after he listed her!
  7. So the last one I bought (1986 ES-175) arrived with a three inch crack in the top laminate near the f-hole and I returned it only to find this beauty a day later! Can anyone tell me more about guitars made in the Custom Shop? Are they truly painstakingly built to higher standards than regular Gibsons? Thanks!
  8. Here she is in all her golden goodness! Just arrived yesterday
  9. What year? Can you please tell me a bit about your experience with it? I've never played one so not quite sure what to expect. Thanks!
  10. I'm very excited, just bought this gal on Reverb and she arrives Monday. Anyone have any experience with this model that they'd like to share? Apparently they're the iconic jazz boxes of yesteryear. This one was originally purchased by a guitar student in 1986 and the sold to a guy who's stored it in a spare bedroom closet since 1990. It was just setup by an experienced Boston luthier who described it as a true time capsule guitar. Said it "plays like a monster!" Is that a good thing? LOL
  11. Hey guys, back with a quick question. While I can clearly see the L48 stamped inside one of the f-holes there doesn't seem to be a serial number anywhere on her. I've been assured that it's a 1958 but how can I know definitively? Any help dating this case queen would be greatly appreciated!
  12. Totally bro, I was just telling a buddy about the old musty wonderful smell when you open the case! Lol
  13. The back is indeed arched. She's a genuine case queen.
  14. Epiphone Imperial Series '60s Howard Roberts. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
  15. Thanks guys. Quite a find indeed, couldn't be happier with this old gal!
  16. Thanks man, she sounds amazing. I've never actually played a Gibson acoustic before so I didn't quite know what to expect but I'm very impressed!
  17. Including original hang tag, case and leather strap! Found this beauty on Reverb and just couldn't pass it up!
  18. Yes indeed a definite pattern here! I've always loved hollow and semi-hollow ES style guitars. Perhaps it was Chuck Berry hopping across the stage with one that sold me on them from an early age. I also like being able to noodle about without having to be plugged in, and they tend to be much lighter than their solid body contemporaries. F-holes seem to add a level of craftsmanship and class as well, in my opinion. I too am looking forward to hearing these stacked P-100s. She arrives Tuesday, can't wait!
  19. They could show us the Plek machine in action but then they'd have to kill us.
