  1. thanks Rabs!! [thumbup]

There are still a couple of things I need to get:

    1. The Schaller tuners.... I just need to make sure the pegs are visually correct. I'm not going to try and find the exact type that were on the Gibson re-issues as I looked for over two years and never found them.

    2. The vintage correct ABR bridge.

  2. Cool... I did exactly the same job for a guy who was in a Beatles tribute band.. [thumbup]

I really went in to detail too.. In the original the pickup was routed from the back as his one has a plate on the back of the guitar to cover it.. They also used two thumbwheels on the bridge for some reason so I did that too :) I also replaced the wraparound with a TOM and stoptail and sanded it down for a natural finish (Johns one went through three changes, sunburst, cherry and then natural).

I'd like to see it [thumbup]

Interesting.... I did not know that it had gone through a third phase (natural) [confused]

I didn't want to do a back route, as this would have been too much wood to lose but I was stoked that vinatgevubeguitars was nice enough to make a custom CC pup that is to vintage specs, as it appears most other CC pup makers are noticeable smaller.

  3. Some of you might remember Version 1 John Lennon LPJ project when I used a 2011 Gibby satin finish LPJ. It was a fun project, but because the CC pup wasn't to vintage specs (smaller). And the satin finish and the neck pocket wasn't correct, I sold the guitar.

I went out an purchased me a 1986 Gibby LPJ which (to me) had more of the vibe I was looking for... though some call these the "pre-historic" LPJ's there is still some minor difference in the neck pocket as the real historic models the neck protrudes about 1/4" more above the body, but I could live with that.

Pix 1 the 1986 LPJ untouched (For $600 it was the perfect sacrificial lamb for this project)

Next was making a program for the Charlie Christian pick routing. I didn't want to hand route as this takes a good amount of experience that I dont have and it only took about an hour total to make the program and route using a CNC.

And a little mock up minus the pup switch cavity. I'm still waiting for the bits to come in but overall I'm digging on the vibe.

  4. The tuners & the decal/sticker on the back of the headstock are really problematic. They do not conform to any Elitist Casio I’ve seen from Terada.

We know it’s not a 2001, because there was no such beast.

If it were being considered a 2011, the tuners are wrong & a decal/sticker would not be applied over the finish. I’ve seen an Elitist decal/sticker available on eBay, so this would be easy to fake.

My guess is that this is not the real deal.

I had a 2001 1965 Elitist Casino for a short while, so they do exist. But the serial number doesn't look right to me, and the Elitist Water Decal looks strange as well.

  5. i picked up pins and end button from Bob Colossi this morning for my 12 string (dyed dark brown bone) and a set for my blonde EC30BK acoustics today... I measured both pin and they both take 1T pins, basically at the neck they measured .2085 at the neck across the groove flat and .2095" (90 degrees off the groove flat). Both pins have a 3.4 degree taper based on the end measurement of .136" and the over-all length of the pin, (use the sin calculation + Build-up = angle X pi / 180 X pin length)...

These are years 2000 and 1997 Gibson Acoustics... See below pics of what I'm getting from Bob

  6. This could get really ambarasing for me, considering how broad my tastes are. You may catch me listening to....rap ZOMG

At this moment I am listening to Master and Servant by Latex Empire.

Been a long time, I see some new people and some old *waves at surfpup...erm not to say you're old, just not new to here *cough

  7. I'm having a great time listening everyone's performances... BRAVO to all that are participating [thumbup]

Anywhoo here's another Beatles tune I'm jamin on [biggrin] ..... As usual my voice struggle with low notes, but I throw in a high part for comfort sakes.... Oh and don't mind the guitar drifting out of tune.... It's me and not the guitar [blush] .... Aggressive heavy handed strumming + a floating bridge with light gage strings makes for a disaster [scared]...

    A BTW good morning!!!! [thumbup]

  8. Thanks for sharing; I really enjoyed it - Your voice is very melodic and calming and suits the song perfectly! I love Blackbird and also the song Julia - have you sung that before?

    Matt

Thanks Missouri Picker..... And thanks Matt..... Though I wish my voice was as soothing as your lovely wife's voice, but all I can do is continue to practice. And since joining that Beatles tribute band where I'm the Paul.... my playing bass while singing has improved dramatically.... But of course I need to work on those vocal scales so I can hit the notes with a little, (well a lot) more accuracy.... Sometimes I feel like Lucy Ricardo's (I Love Lucy) when trying to find the correct pitch [biggrin] LOL!!!

I can do Julia, but I've been noodling with George's "I Need You," I just love that song [thumbup]
