I don't play fast, I don't play slow, I kind of play half fast. :)
  1. Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Lettuce, Tomato and Onion plus jalapenos. Cottage Cheese on the side. Doug
  2. Holy Balls, that poor gal got beat up. Maybe a new reality TV show could be created called "Wrestling with the Roos"
  3. Dig, Has anyone ever been crazy enough to try ride one of these hopping fellows? Could make for an interesting Down Under rodeo.
  4. I started playing guitar in 2004, when I was 50, mandolin 2003 when I was 49. Better than smoking.
  5. Rabs, I'm kind of Star Trek fan, too. My opinion about "Enterprise" is that the writer's obsession with the Zindi ruined it (at least for me). My son (who is 30) and I are in the process of watching old Star Trek shows on Netflix. I started him off with Deep Space Nine, since around our parts they haven't shown any of that series in reruns. Kind of fun. Also, if you catch a quick flight to Minnesota and rent a car, we are showing Star Trek Beyond this weekend at my theatre in Kiester, MN. It might cost you an arm and a leg to get here, but it will only cost you $4.00 (US) to get a ticket and if you show up, I will let you in free. Also, a large popcorn and a 20 ounce soda pop will cost you less than $5.00 (US). Oh ya, and if you stuck around for a while we could plunk away on our stringed instruments, as well. Regards, Doug
  6. Cougar, Thanks for posting your 12 string performance, it was very enjoyable. The old Guild sounds great, what year is it? My Alvarez is now 12 years old and is sounding better every year, but of course, I think Guild makes the best 12's.
  7. Wow. Even more energy than a Leo Kottke 12 string performance, and of course, more bluesy. Loved it. As a 12 string player, it kind of is amazing to hear somebody play it that way. SRV was truly a great player. Thanks for posting this, Dennis.
  8. I wanna make a joke about sodium, but Na..
  9. I've had mine going on 3 years and it is sounding better and better with age. I can't tell you anything about the other models, but for the money, I got my dream acoustic guitar.
  10. I bought my J-35 from Sweetwater Music, ask for Mark. Mark gave me the best on line service I have experienced. They even tried out my guitars and Mark picked the one out I ended up getting. I was able to choose the guitar from their pictorial galleries, which isn't the same as trying them out, but my local music shop didn't have any Gibson Acoustics on hand, so this was the next best thing. Give them a try, they will treat you right. Doug
  11. You may or may not know it, but I am Mayor of a small town in Southern Minnesota named Kiester. People make fun of the name even though the spelling is not the same, it is pronounced the same as the German for you know what. Anyway, we were approached by an ad company from NY City to make a commercial for Preparation H. Imagine that. Anyway, I attached a link to the commercial if anyone is interested. We are proud of our small town and this name came from one of the founders of Faribault County, Judge Jacob Armel Kiester who settled in Blue Earth, MN in the late 19th Century. Also, for a musical topic, my brothers-in-law and I are performing music on the stage of the Kee Theatre on Saturday, 6/25/16, this will be the 16th year we have done this and one of the inspirations for me to learn how to play mandolin and guitar. So if you are cruising down I90 and you see the Wells/Kiester exit, come on down and join us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJRAsFxMoT0
  12. Thanks, Sal. I really enjoyed your last post. Reminded me a lot of my musical hero, Neil Young.
