[New Purchases or your favorite]

Here's my latest purchase together with my favorite (acoustic):

A new mexican made 60s neck with pau ferro fretboard for my Tele Partcaster (it all started with a 80ies Fender Tele made in japan; only the controlplate and the poti knobs from that guitar are still there) and my Hummingbird TV.

I actually had a NGD last year, but since its an electric and I never made real photos I never posted this:

Guys don't you dare to talk about music here. This place is about Gibsons... .his j-50 seems to have a rosewood adj. bridge no wonder that he sounds so good!

[Pickup question for J-45 owners]

I changed the stock pup in my J-45 (a fishman matrix back in 2005) to a k&k mini. This was better than the stock pup, but I was never really happy with it. Ended up installing a L.R. Baggs M 1 active. I really like this one, much better than the stock and better than the k&K, at least to my ears. I guess there are better pickup options out there, but these are way more expensive. I think the m 1 looks cool too, and you can remove it, when you don't use it.

It'll be also of interested how gibson would take care of the problem on a individual guitar (not so much what they are trying to do to fix the manufacturing problem.)

I rememberd this one today.

And since the basic track is me singing and playing my beloved j-45, i thought i post it here. This was meant as a joke at the time (posted under comedy on youtube). Gibsons call for the Dark Fire Contest "inspired" the song. It was written in about 10 minutes and recorded the same day. All other instruments were overdubbed with real instruments (the e-guitar is a 1968 Gibson Melody Maker that i sold recently, lap steel is Gibson br-9).

 

I got a lot of hateful comments on youtube at the time. Most of the folks did not get the joke. besides the stupid lyrics, I kind of like the music.
