  1. Sadly, this Gibson forum won't allow me to post photos of my new Gibson guitar.

    Tragic, this.

    And ironic, in a way.

    :(

  2. The BFG Tremolo would go for $975 in mint condition.

    The BFG Gator, $875.

The BFG Limited Edition, LPLP 2007-2008, $2,500.

The BFG Limited Edition 2008, $1,000.

And finally, the original and first BFG, $850.

    Weird, I know.

This is according to Fjestad's Blue Book.

    :(

  3. I've got a line on one of these, the older, original version with the HB in the bridge, not the newer models. The seller says the guitar was made in 2011, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere they were only made for two years, 2007 and 2008. Which one of us is wrong, me or the seller? Also, what would be a good price for the guitar, assuming it's in original condition?

    Thanks.

    You are correct, mostly.

The original Gibson Les Paul BFG and the BFG Limited Edition variants, were only made in 2007 and 2008.

The Gibson Les Paul BFG Gator model, and the BFG Tremolo models, however, were made in 2011 and 2012.

    I hope this helps.

    :)

  4. Vlad,

That one was made in Neptune, NJ in 1984 or early 1985.

They were assembled there in New Jersey, but many of the parts were provided to Kramer by ESP of Japan, Sports of Connecticut, and Lasido of Canada.

The headstock and golden, squared-off Kramer logo are period-correct.

    :)

  5. duckidano,

According to Fjestad's Blue Book, the value of your lovely Gibson Spirit II XPL, according to condition, is:

    Mint - $850

    Excellent Plus - $675

    Excellent - $550

    Very Good Plus - $425

    Very Good - $350

    Good - $275

    I hope this helps.

    [wink]

  6. Here's a pic of Don Peake's git. It's not a 340 or 335 variant (has no crown inlay) Not a 330 (has stop TP) So? does anyone know what it is?

    Don-Photo-1024x575.jpg

Whatever it is, it was his favorite.

I see it in a lot of Don Peake historical videos.

    :)

  7. We got a day off because of some much-anticipated snowfall (that never came), and so I made myself productive.

I pulled the Kramer Ferrington KFTII out of the case, restrung her, buffed her down with wax, tuned her up, and played the heck out of her.

She now hangs in the place of honor, right next to the drum kit.

    r90_123744.jpg

The Kramer guitar case got some love too.

It got armor-alled before it went back into the closet of many cases.

    :)

  8. Thanks! I enjoyed it. My favorite is the SG over the Gibson poster. Looks perfect!

    Thank you, Black Dog.

The poster itself has a photo of an ES-175 on it, but the SG Naked covers it up in my photo.

It's probably a sacrilegious thing to do, but I've been told I'm on the express train to hell anyway, so what the heck.

    [unsure]

Here's a photo of the poster that I found on Reverb just now.

  9. Ciao buon giorno.

    :)

  10. I pan-sauteed some boneless, skinless chicken thighs with some butter, garlic, and portabello mushrooms.

I settled that into a baking dish with some penne noodles, ricotta cheese, marinara sauce, and black pepper.

Topped it all off with Parmesan cheese and more garlic.

Baked it at 350 for a half hour, and served it up to my bride.

She was very happy with her dinner.

  11. If my band came visited your music room it'd look like a smoke filled, beer bottle infested brothel within an hour [laugh]

Very nice Sparky, very different and very mature!

    Ha ha ha,

When my band visits, it's a beer bottle infested brothel for sure!

None of us smoke though, so luckily the smoke isn't a factor.

Joe, our new drummer vapes, but it's a pleasant smelling vapor that wafts over the cymbals in between songs.

    :)

    No shortage of gear there!

    Yes, this is true.

Every time I try to thin down the population, and sell off some guitars and stuff, more and more gear seems to come home in the car with me.

    :(

These are just the cases alone, in the closet with the acoustics and bags of cables, mics, and PA gear.

    [crying]

  12. I got to feeling ambitious today, so I did some reorganizing in the music/band practice room.

The Alesis drums are happy where they are, but I decided to group all the guitars into their own special corner or spot.

    133438.jpg

The bass guitar corner, with my LTD B50 on the left, and the Fender Aerodyne on the right.

    133453.jpg

The Gibsons (SG and Les Paul) are together now next to an old Gibson guitars poster, above the keyboards.

    133601.jpg

The Teles got their own corner, of course.

My new green Danny Matthews Tele there on the floor with Roxie, the Patrick Gentile build on the lower wall, and my Chapman ML 3 Traditional above that.

    r90_133541.jpg

The Sandblasted Strat hangs next to a James Bond movie poster. Make of that what you will.

    133510.jpg

The Acoustic Alley here, with my Takamine above my 12 string Martin.

    r90_133618.jpg

Odds and ends; My ukulele nook, and the Oddball Wall, featuring a locally-built cigar box guitar and my school bus yellow Ibanez fashioned to compliment my Subaru Baja.

    133718.jpg

    133631.jpg

I have more guitars and amps, at work and in cases, but this was as tidy as I knew how to make the music room become.

Thanks for walking on the tour with me today.

    Cheers!!

  13. We had a band practice yesterday afternoon, just to work on some new songs, and to fool around with some fresh ideas.

Had fun with the James Gang song, "Walk Away".

I killed it on my Gibson Les Paul Faded.

Such sustain for a weight relieved guitar.

    I loved how it sounded!

Our girl singer channeled her best Joe Walsh, our harmonies behind her were really good, and all was fantastic.

We are definitely adding that song to our set lists.

    :)

  14. Are the 2018 Les Paul Tributes worth buying?

I want to buy a Gibson Les Paul but don’t have lots of money. Looking the Tribute. Good guitar? How about the pickups?

I am deciding between a Epiphone Lucille and the Tribute. I want both.

Will play music type from The Cure to Sound Garden to Sade.

The consensus is that this is a really good guitar.

I don't think you could go wrong by acquiring one.

  15. Good morning.

Most Kramer solid-body electric bass guitars are well made.

As long as the neck is true, the action is smooth and playable, and the electric bits all work, you should not have a problem.

A Korean Forum Series bass should go for about 250 Euros in really good condition.

    Looking forward to seeing pictures!!

    [tongue]

  16. What was lat year Gibson used rosewood on the fretboard instead of whatever is all used currently?

Gibson still uses rosewood on the fingerboards of many of their models, including the current (2019) lineup.

It is true that they offered pao ferro fingerboards (and some composite ones as well) for a number of years after the unconstitutional US Government raids on their facilities a few years ago, but they never truly stopped using rosewood.

Fender, by contrast, chose to go strictly with pao ferro on just their Mexican-made guitars, beginning in 2017.

  17. Wild Bill 212,

I sure am sorry that you are going thru this.

Some of us have good luck when ordering online, and others have experienced similar situations to yours.

As you said, it's a roll of the dice.

I myself have never had a bad experience with Sweetwater.

I did order my SG from American Musical Supply, but then again, they were the only ones who offered the SG Naked.

I got lucky, I guess. Mine was perfect, right out of the box.

I'm hoping that, with you, the 3rd time is the charm.

    Good luck!

    :)
