Anyone got a 50th Anniversary Sorrento?

I am starting to get a bad case of GAS for the 50th Anniversary 1962 Sorrento. No stores near me have one... so I look to the forum for help.

Has anyone bought one? Played one? What's the verdict?

I sold a Korean-made Epi Sorrento a few years ago and always regretted it. And I love the thought of getting one with mini-humbuckers, like the originals had.

Thanks!

The online dealers are showing a release date of May 2013,

so you shouldn't have too much longer to wait.

Re the specs, they're a bit off on this model.

In '62 the bikini headstock plate was gone,

and the pickguard was white.

I've got a Royal Olive one on backorder. Looking forward to it. Comes with Case. I had the Casino '61 50th and was impressed with it, but didn't like the binding, and especially the lack of upper fret access - I need to be able to play up there when neccessary. The Gibson p90 pickups were great, tho, and really made the guitar, along with a nice neck. Plus, I ordered the tremotone model and they sent me the trapeze one - so I sent it back.

Looks like there's lots to like about the Sorrento - mini-hums (not my favorite pickup, but versatile enough). No binding on the neck, and has dots on the fingerboard - both big pluses for me. Upper fret access looks diggable. Will post a honeymoon/puppy-love review when it lands here. [biggrin]
