torca Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Well I think I hope I posted some pics.Anyways had time to do a Christmas string sweep and posted some pics as the familys' changin'.Recently had to send back to Gibson my Fuller '39 J-35 that developed a neck issue.Got to thinking about what it was I liked about Gibsons and the variety in body style, woods, finishes I guess is the difference between that and say Martin's for me.I admit that I buy for looks and tone, just if the tone's not there it is a faster changeout as opposed to a real good barker of a guitar. Anyway best of the season folks.I got some playing to do. Todd
Jinder Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 that maple 'bird and Frontier are unspeakably beautiful. I am very envious.
BCSC Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Thanks for the pics of the extended family. From the looks of things, they're both rockers.
BCSC Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I mean all three. I didn't mean to diss the Epi.
Honky Dog Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Wow. Those guitars are great. Which one did you buy for me? Private Message me for my shipping address. :-)
pohatu771 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 What exactly is the metal plate on the Epiphone's headstock?
torca Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 The Epi has a Gibson Montana plate as they were built in a small run in late 93/early94.The guitar was built on the 351st day in 1993 from the label. That said it is far different sounding than the Bird.I believe maple has the longest break in period of any tonewood. I played a Banner maple in the summer that redefined my opinion of what a maple guitar could sound like forever.Real good stuff!
