Toner
I have an original 1966 Firbird III that has a broken peghead at the nut. Will Gibson do the work of repairing it by removing the old neck and fingerboard and installing a new neck with the old fingerboard? Toner
Yeah, emailing CS was my first idea, but then I thought to ask if any one has done it here. I should have asked that too.
Dave F
They have done neck resets for me. They will quote you whatever you want done. Look at their service website where they fixed Hillbilly Jim's guitar. http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/ProductSpotlight/RepairAndRestoration/Repair%20Stories/Hillbilly%20Jim_s%20Gibson%20J-4%20%281%29/

Toner
Just got Gibson's response... Toner, I talked with our shop manager and he said he wasn't 100% sure we could get the neck and even if we could he didn't think it would work out so we will have to pass on this. Thank you, Gibson Repair and Restoration
Jayyj
Er, isn't it a through neck? Short of chopping off the old one and fitting a new neck with a tenon I don't think it's going to be an easy one. If you go to a luthier who specializes in working on vintage instruments you should be able to get even the worst headstock break dealt with so that it looks fairly unobtrusive and as stable as it was to begin with. Just be sure to check credentials. If you look here - http://www.frets.com/FretsPages/pagelist.html#Luthier - and scroll down to the section on broken headstocks it might give you an idea of what can be done.
