MrPicker
Hi! Im thinking about putting a tune-o-matic bridge on a Gibson es295, but I dont know which variant that fits the rose wood base. Is it the nashville-style or abr1 style that fits it? Or both? Or is it possible to put a t-o-m direct on the guitar without the wooden base? Its the new gibson es295 reissue. L5Larry
I'm assuming the 295 is a full hollow guitar, in which case you need the base for the bridge, for there is no structural wood to anchor the bridge studs. Plus the "saddle" effect of the base is how the string vibration is transferred to the "soundboard" of the guitar. The two archtop "floating bridge" Gibson guitars I have (L-5 & L-7), the bridge studs fit the ABR-1 type bridge in size and spacing.
retrorod
I am not sure without seeing some picture? I have to ask.....what are your problems with the existing set-up and what is your 'ultimate' goal for starters? And as usual Larry beat me to it.... MrPicker
Thanks for your answers. Well I have ordered the guitar, but I havn't recieved it yet! \:D/ My problems with the existing setup is that it is no bigsby on it, and that is why i need to swap bridge.
