aomena
Hi, I recently got a hold of this epiphone. I had to re-solder all the wiring. I could not trace its serial number It's only 7 characters long : 9403297 There is no Les Paul signature on the head stock, the TRC says Gibson, it had a arched top, 2 vol, 2 tones, it's a bolt on neck and the serial number is on the neck back plate. Here are some pictures of her: http://m.flickr.com/photos/107858479@N03/10710033465/lightbox/ Please help me identify: model, year, pickups, etc. Thank you guys. RobinTheHood
Your Flikr page isnt loading for me, so I cant see the guitar in question. But it sounds like a Les Paul-100. Some years didnt have any scripting on the headstock and the serials can be kind of wonky, as they were made in several locations over the years. Heres a link to more info. http://epiphonewiki.com/index.php/Les_Paul_Numbered_Models#Les_Paul-100_Studio

Yep, they are the same pickups as the LP Special. You can swap them if you want, but some people can get decent enough sound out of them. It really it depends on your personal taste. So i guess i can say that the only difference between this LP 100 and the LP special is the carved top and 2 vol, 2 tone knobs. right? thank you for the help, my friend. That and the carved top should be a maple cap on top of the mahogany or laminated body. They also come with a pickguard, while the Special does not. I think they may have upgraded the tuners on the LP-100 at some point to the die-cast instead of the stamped verions as well. Yours looks like it has the older stamped tunders on it. If so, that is where I would do any upgrades first and foremost. The stamped tuners seem to have a lot of slack in them and have a hard time keeping the guitar in tune a lot of times. crust
I dig the finish, faded heritage cherry sunburst. Looks cool
RobinTheHood
But I should point out that going from stamped to die-cast will most likely require you to bore out the tuner holes from 8mm to 10mm, unless you find a set of good tuners for an 8mm hole. crust
Also, no decal or script on the headstock, like the LP Special II I once had. Is it a "Gibiphone" or an "Epison" ?
aomena
so far i had no problems keeping it in tune. i traded it for an old POD1, this last weekend, that I haven't used in a while. it seems like someone has sanded the gloss from the body, this is why its dull. I'm looking forward to update the pickups to burstbuckers maybe. I will probably use this guitar with my church worship and i bet the quality of the pickups that come with it are not the best. lol The sound of the wood with the guitar unplugged is great tho, i was surprised. jsteele
It seems that truss rod cover was only on the Korean built models, until 2001 I think.
