I was told that it was built at the Gibson Custom Shop in 1993 (which was the founding year). Can you confirm? How likely is it that the guitar was painted by Tom Murphy? Custom Admin Posted February 19, 2008 Share Posted February 19, 2008 yes, there are actually 2 Historic '57 Reissues with that serial number (serial number duplication is not uncommom here)...one shipped to Germany in august 1993, the other shipped to asia in July 1993. that's all i have on this...
