toneguru
Hi, I have a 1963 Gibson Les Paul SG standard which has a stop tail piece. The finish is original and checked with a blacklight. There are no screw holes visible on the top of the body, or the back edge, where you would expect if a vibrola had been removed, so it must be concluded there never was the standard factory vibrola. I've never come across another one, except in an old advert. Gibson say that it's possible that stop tail versions were produced as a custom order but have no records as such to confirm. I'd be interested for anyone's take on this. How rare would this be? I' ll attach a couple of photos later Cheers Andy
