XXWIDE
I have a 2006 SG Standard in Ebony. I was cleaning it up and restringing when I noticed in the light that there is a haze in the gloss right where my arm lays on the body while playing. I know, I should have wiped down the finish after every use, but I did not. I will from now on. Its not really bad, and can only be seen on an angle in the right light. Does anyone know how I can restore this? I have brought back to life paint on cars, but never on wood. Any advice woild be appreciated. retrorod
I would use similar methods on the guitar finish as on the auto finish. I use Meguiars compounds a lot on nitro finishes. There is another product called Preservation Polish sold by Stewart MacDonald that works very well for lifting 'haze' on a finish also! j45nick
You can also use Virtuoso Cleaner and Virtuoso Polish, which are specifically formulated to restore nitro finishes. Excellent for removing finish haze.
retrorod
Perhappenstance....XXWide ...has the 'acid-sweat' "Can you still see the haze where your arm rests after you polish it? Just curious?" It is not 'terminal' and can be remedied with 'tougher abrasives'....possibly??
