zigzag
I'm getting ready to buy a used Epiphone Dot. I don't know anything about it, only that a luthier in my area is getting one on consignment and I told him I might be interested. If it is in good shape, I intend to buy it and put in some Lindy Fralin P-92 split single coil pickups. I was curious to know if the wiring or the pots should be redone for those pickups, or is what is already there adequate? I tend to play cleaner, at lower volume, and I like the definition and the fatness of those pickups for jazzier/bluesy sounds.
brantobrien
Just replace them. From what I hear, Typically that us an area that corners are cut. Might as well replace the jack as well. Be careful about shaft size and length.
retrorod
I would think that you would have to play it, set-it-up to your liking and then make that judgement call. Sometimes "good enough" IS "good enough".....I am happy with the stock wiring and p/ups in my 2003 Dot Delexe. Could it be improved? Yes, possibly! Could it be worse? Yes, probably....
