My MIK pickups were 11K-12K and I wanted to keep the chrome covers look for the guitar so instead of replacing them I had them rewound to 8K-9K and wound RWRP for hum-canceling in the middle switch position. bluelake07 Posted March 24, 2014 Share Posted March 24, 2014 I play mostly rhythm guitar and was looking for a milder sound than the stock pickups provided. Jon Moore of www.tonefordays.com rewound the pickups and chose the magnets he likes for Casinos...I couldn't be more pleased. It's been over two years since the rewind so the difference between them now and stock isn't fresh in my mind, but these aren't muddy and are exactly how I want my Casino to sound. I like the hum-canceling with both pickups on and use that switch position often. I don't know if the MIC Casinos already have that (never played one); the MIK's didn't. I had a local guitar tech reinstall the pickups. I've swapped out pickups on a Telecaster, but decided not to attempt it on a hollowbody. I had the pickups rewound because I wanted to keep the chrome covers look. Another option would be to buy Kent Armstrong pickups made specifically for Casinos that have chrome covers and are available at WD Music. Other pickup makers have black or cream-colored plastic covers and that's a good look, too. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jimmi accardi Posted March 26, 2014 Author Share Posted March 26, 2014 I found a set of Kent Armstrongs on Ebay last night - both for $105 so I ordered them. I hope the fit into the guitar without problems. Right after I ordered them I received an email from Jon saying he would have rewound mine for $90 plus shipping (good deal IMO).
