TM1
I've got a new R-7 Goldtop (s/n 4 7207).the high E string keeps breaking at the wrapover point on the backside of the bridge. I've been playing for 43 years and have a number of other old Gibson's with this type of bridge and have no problems. Seems like a bad cast aluminium bridge to me. I use Pyramid Strings and they have a silk wrap on the ball end, so it's not metal to metal at the breaking point where the string bends on the backside of the tailpiece. The point where the string breaks over the back of the bridge looks sharp, not smooth/rounded like my other ones. Seems like a Warranty issue to me.
