pdawg
I put that serial number into this website, http://www.guitardaterproject.org/epiphone.aspx. It came back with this: Your guitar was made in Korea November 1989 Production Number: 1283 Please post some pictures when you can.
vomer
I put that serial number into this website, http://www.guitardat.../epiphone.aspx. It came back with this: Your guitar was made in Korea November 1989 Production Number: 1283 Guitar Dater is largely nonsense. Not recommended. Go here instead, the Epiphone Wiki. Yes, it could be Japanese from 1999. Pics needed though. Front, back, and side of headstock, edge-on body view, etc. And welcome to the forum, Randy and pdawg. Aoresteen
You can call Gibson Customer service and they will run the serial number and tell you when it was made - in most cases :) . I've found them to friendly and very helpful.
