agradeleous
hey folks just wondering if any wood experts are around ? I emailed Cordoba about s guild 12 string . What struck me odd was it is a all solid mahogany body the outside looked as expected but the inside was way to light colored in my eyes to be mahogany. Now I'm pretty experienced but not a pro in hard woods in ever it light colored except in grain streaks . They say it's a lighting issue . I was also at music store snd guy said the same thing about a Yamaha guitar but inside looked exactly like laminate outside was right do I'm just curious maybe it's a type of import I'm not knowing about . But I swear it did not look like mahogany but I've been wrong before . What ya'll say ? :)
rct
It's the toner(s) and tint(s) they use in the lacquers on one side but not on the other. rct
agradeleous
Yes that darkens the tone . I need to find some pics / samples to compare. When i see rosewood or Koa even maple I can tell the wood is the same inside to the out . Grain patterns snd also color match even though the inside is not treated match up . The guitar at the store did not match up so that makes me wonder . My DR500mce shows the mahogany clearly dark inside and out so I'm at a lose when I see dark outside and light luan door look on the inside . Most perplexing lol
agradeleous
Ok just seen s bunch of pics there are some very light colored pics but most show the wood dark . So I guess I just got it wrong . Wonder if it's a grade thing between the darker and light or species difference .
