Removing the Poker chip plate on a Les Paul Special II

I've recently started wondering if I should remove the rhythm/treble poker ring around pup selector from my Slash AFD Special II and was wondering about a few things. First of all:

-how should I go about doing it

-will it hurt the finish beneath the plate

-if you put it back on afterwards, does it look and feel the same

Thanks in advance

-you should be able to pull it off with your fingers

-it will not hurt the finish but it will leave a residue like a sticker

-if you put it back on afterwards; it should look the same but if the adhesive doesn't stick it may be raised slightly on the edges but the toggle nut should hold it in place. also, it's a fairly easy part to find and isn't that expensive if you need to replace it later.

Thanks! I will try to post some photos of how it looks with and without!
